Okay, so I read all the posts I could find on the scoops and one question remains - why is there a difference between the XBR/S scoop (smaller) and the Uly Scoop (bigger)? Since the Uly scoop with fit the R/S frame (albeit without the underseat ducting), why not make that the standard scoop across the line?

Has anyone tried the Uly scoop and the S/R scoop on the S/R frame? Does one work beter than the other?

Obviously there is a reasons the short frame scoop is smaller. Perhaps it doesn't work as well without the addition ducting, or isn't needed.

Any insight would be great. I like the looks of the Uly scoop better, but I am leaning toward purchasing the small scoop because of Buell's reasons that I don't know about, lol.

Proabably because of the design of the rear section on the Uly. My '06 Uly fan runs all the time. My 04 12R fan barely runs. Leads me to believe that the 12R rear section traps less heat.

I've ran both scoops on my 09 12r and find the smaller one ok at cooling but the uly one is a god send! I also run the under seat heat shield from special ops. I'm actually a year round rider in Kansas City, mo and I'm thinking I'm going to run the smaller scoop, no heat sheild in the cooler months so I get some heat under me. And the larger uly scoop with the heat sheild in the hotter months so I don't feel any heat again. Right now it's in the lower 50's when I head home from work, and I get just enough heat with the small scoop/heat sheild combo.

so the smaller one will fit the Uly as well? I thought the frames were different because the uly carried more fuel?

Yes, the smaller scoop will fit the Ulys, but I wouldn't use it on the Uly when you have the big scoop option. The smaller scoop can be seen on the Buell website on the side of all '10 bikes that aren't Ulys.
