Harv Shawn and I were chatting about the possibilities of riding the Duffy Lake Road. Rumor has it that most of the new asphalt is in place now. On another note, have you seen the forecast for the weekend? FJ |

The forecast does indeed look disheartening. Showers on Friday here, which has me re-thinking the feasability of the Duffy Lake (and I can't see another time this year that I'll be free to give it a run!) We'll apparently find sunny weather in Vernon on Friday night but its supposed is to be cloudy on Saturday, when we're leaving there, with light showers on Sunday. And Creston shows light showers on Sunday. So for starters, as much as I'd love to do the Duffy with fresh asphalt in nice weather, that is unlikely to be the case and a short run to the Okanagan may be the wiser course of action. We may have to decide closer to departure time. Add on: the weathernetwork gives 5mm of rain in Whistler every day from Thursday on. |

"The trouble with weather forecasting is that it's right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it." ~Patrick Young Friday - Vernon high 19C/66F and a mix of sun clouds Saturday - Creston high 21C/70F and a mix of sun and cloud with 30 percent chance of showers. Sunday - Grand Coolee - 26C/79F and mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. From past experience I know that the only way for us to have dry weather is for me to pack my rain gear. I also know that there is a 100% chance of Irish Car Bombs in Vernon on Friday night. Harv |

Is everybody going to be in town on Thursday night? What do the rest of the group want to do? I'm good to go either way. |

It would be awesome to all ride together on Friday, but an early start won't be fun if there is a late night preceding it :-) Potential meeting points: Maple Ridge; Mission; Harrison Lake; Hope or ?? |

Been busy. I was thinking the pub on the hillside above Princeton. Or Manning Park. |

It's going to be Wednesday tomorrow. We should decide where and when to meet on Friday. The Golden Ears Bridge will make that easy. If we are meeting in Princeton or somewhere we are going to have to leave at roughly the same time anyway so why don't we travel together. 245 Kms to Princeton - 2 hours 212 more Kms to Vernon - 2 more hours (plus possible fun roads such as Old Hedley, Green Mountain, West Side...etc.). I like the pub in Princeton but if we leave at 7:00AM we'll be there for breakfast...too early for beer? Does anyone want to meet for breakfast before heading out? Harv |

Galen, If Marcus doesn't bag out, I'll be spending Friday night at his place. Why don't we meet some place in Ballard and have breakfast. I know just the place. Let me know if this works for you. Also Marcus has your phone number and will probably be probing you for details. He is wound tight and needs to have all his ducks in a row to feel good. I would just tell him to loosen up and go with the flow if I were you. |

I'm with Harv on this one. Lets set a more realistic breakfast meeting time and plan on arriving in Vernon for mid afternoon or a bit later. We should take the fun roads as mentioned and make the most of the trip. Dave, Shawn and I will be travelling east from Vancouver through Port Coquitlam, so a Langley breakfast location would be fine by me. Jimmy |

Ballard sounds great. I'm hungry allready. I'll have to think about this whole 'probing' thing with Marcus fo ra little bit. Since He's so tight I guess it will be ok. We do want to feel good,,,

I'm leaving Thursday for a 2 day-er to Vernon from Bend. May spend Thursday night previewing Grand Coulee... planning to ride DH24, DH7 out of Osoyoos to the east if there is enough time on Friday. See you all in Vernon! MG |

Just got a call from Deb, looks like Bob has to work tonight and they possibly won't even make it here for tomorrow night either. I just hope they will make the ride, period! Anyhow, as for Friday breakfast meeting. How about meet at ABC Country Restaurant in Maple Ridge on Lougheed & 200th? Golden Ears bridge leads off from Langley and it's obviously close for Funjimmy, Dave, Shawn and Don & I. Then we can slip down Lougheed instead of freeway. Also, for tomorrow (Thursday) night why not come out here to Maple Ridge for a BBQ? Bring something to sling on the grill and perhaps a bevy or two and we'll supply the rest?! Ping me personally to let me know you're coming so I can plan for # of people, as well as give you address & directions. Thoughts??? Peace, Lo (Message edited by additude on September 02, 2009) |

Don't forget when you go over the new bridge to reach behind you and cover your licence plate. Damn near crashed the Beemer trying to reach on that one. A civilized hour sounds good. Breakfast sounds good. Beer sounds good but is dependent on Jaci's work schedule. |

Ixnay on the evening get-together. Time and energy do not allow. If the Yanks are short of time, our place is five minutes from the border and we are currently, blessedly, childless. (Not to be poaching your guests, Lo.) Not to draw attention to the obvious, but our southern friends could have a back-up plan of meeting us in Vernon, although that would deprive them of a full day of our company, so I'm sure they wouldn't want to settle for that except in an emergency. |

I'm not sure I can make the the get together as it's birthday weekend for both my kids. Bunch of stuff to do so that I can go riding. What are our Southern peeps gonna do. Everything depends on their timeline. Either way I'd like to meet for breakfast. Herve |

We are childless as of tomorrow afternoon. Not sure what the status is of our American counterparts, I'm sure they will let us know when they know. As it stands, what does everyone think about breakfast in Maple Ridge @ ABC Country Restaurant at 200 & Lougheed Hwy/Dewdney Trunk Rd ? Take the back route instead of Freeway towards Hope?? Let us know what time and we'll be there! |

Got the new War Pony home today. I picked a good one, she looks like she can run. Felt great to get back in the saddle again, as it were. Gona take some un-nessesary parts off tomorrow. We call it the Ron Conversion. I had been steeling myself to the possibility that I would have to sit out this ride also. 'Why, oh why would the moto-gods treat me so coldly,' I whined. 'It ain't fair, and nobody loves me,' I sniveled. But then the clouds parted and a ray of the purest, goldenest light shone down, and I heard a voice in the wind telling me to 'HAVE NO FEAR, YOUR RIDE IS HERE!' I went to Destination and all obsticals placed in my way by the Super-Devil were made as nought as I cut through the RedTape with my trusty shalayli. And then I rode like the west-Texas wind to Rose's Cantina where I saw Bob and Deb and Big Steve. Big Steve and his girl-friend Ron are going on their own ride. I'd like to see what they'r ridin' in the dark, but that's for another time... Cap talked to Marki-Marcus today. Three times. -sheesh- I think we have a plan for Saturday set now. mmmmm breakfasty. Just need to get the final time and temporal coordinets and I'll be there. Looks like I'll see ya all sooner, |

Don & Lo Thanks for offering to host the Border Raid reception, but like John, I'll need the night to do all the final touches before the big weekend. ABC in Maple Ridge sounds great to me and I’d suggest a meet time of 9:00AM if that’s not to late. Even taking all the secondary roads, we should still arrive in Vernon early enough for a full evening of social libations. After all, with my propensity to drink too much and crash too early, I can’t get to the motel until later. What says you? Jimmy |

John you don't even have to take the Golden Ears Bridge. Just take the MaryHill ByPass, get onto the Pitt River Bridge and continue east along Lougheed. ABC Restaurant is at the intersection of Lougheed & Dewdney just the other side of the street, across from Staples on South East corner of that intersection. |

For anyone wishing to join the US only version of Border Raid along with certain people barred from Canadia. Looks like we will be meeting at the Ballard Safeway at 0700hrs.on Saturday. We will be having breakfast at the Salmon Bay Cafe and then north to the North Cascades Highway and beyond.... It will be fun to see if Galen can ride slow enough to keep up with me on the VTX PIG! |
