When I did the wire swap (yellow - brown/yellow) it worked great for about 6 mos. Now I have no hibeam. One of those fragile, pansy little pins looks like it may have discolored abit from arcing. (my hamfisted electrical skills probably didn't help) I think this is a Packard type connector. I'm considering changing it to a Delphi or even a 4 prong 'trailer light' type. Anyone changed this particular connector ? And what to ? I'd repair it but not sure thats a long term fix. Any thoughts ?? Sounds like the connector was damaged. 2+ years, 41+k miles, still working fine for me, even after rear ending a car. | ||

Yeah...and I think I'm the damaging party. Those little pins, unfortunately don't fix themselves. I'll just have to replace the connector with something more durable - gives me a chance to hone my soldering skills. | ||

You can just bypass the connector and solder the wires direct or use a crimp and shrink wrap. | ||

Mnrider - Was thinking just that. Ends up a very solid connection. The only down side is if I need to disconnect, for some future reason, want easier separation. Anyone used the 'posilock' solderless connectors ? Heard good things from other users. My only hesitation is there enough 'slack' in the wires to make the ends meet ? Guess I'll just have to disassemble and see. Thanks all. | ||

I just used a spare connector and soldered the wired to the connector in the mod-ed order. I think I have a spare one if you want me to send it your way i could. | ||

Greenman44 - Really appreciate your generous offer. I have a bunch of 4 pin molex type connectors left over from various projects and 'long gone' motorcycles. I think I'm going to quit procrastinating and just do it today. Perhaps a better/more durable result this time !? Thanks again, Be well. j |
