I can't decide! I want a new xb...But my clutch is going out and tranny has been grinding a little when shifting so i know its in need of repairs soon. The 6 speed is $3,600.

just putting this out there but for that price you could almost get a decent used bike.

I thought no one made a 6 speed for an XB. Are you sure it's not the one for the tubers you're thinking of?

Just to give you an idea, I sold my 03 9s with 2800 miles on it for $3800 about 2 1/2 months ago....if you search you can find a bike for the price of that transmission if it's what you want.

for $3600 you could get the Sachs XRoad....

It has a 6speed already in it. And has kinda the tuber feel to it.

If you picked up an XB, would you be keeping your tuber? If so, I'd go that route. It's nice to have a spare. That's just me though.

not too long ago there was a nice M2 getting parted out.. the owner was asking $1200 for a used baker 6 speed. had around 5k miles on the tranny IIRC. if you have to pay new price for the tranny, I'd suggest another bike instead.

Maybe the tranny noises are being caused by clutch problems. Fix the clutch and see if it still makes noise. Maybe.

Gotta be careful with those after-market 6 spds. So far as I know, all but the Baker are Chinese mfd. and not very good.

Buy the parts, fix it yourself, sell it, then use that money down on your XB.

If the clutch is going out it is likely also out of adjustment making shifts harder. Warped plates will cause drag that will do so as well. If the tranny isn't trashed already you may have some gears that are serviceable.

I trashed a couple gears in my S1 and it was inexpensive and relatively easy to fix.

If you need a new clutch, I highly recommend the Energy One brand...top notch service and tech support...

I wouldn't put $3600 worth of parts into a $3600 bike. It might be a simple problem, anyway. Take the clutch basket off and check the detent plate on the shift drum. You might just need $4 worth of parts.

I have a 01 x1. But i really like the xb 12s also. But i love my tuber and want it as modified as possible but still street-able. I am already into my x1 $11,000 (4k) buying the bike and it still needs more work! The Xb's do not have a trap door tranny and cannot have a 6 speed But for all the money i have spent on the X1 i might just get a new bike and wait on the tuber!

I would buy the xb and then work on your tuber as you can! You can have 2 really rad bikes instead of one with a really nice transmision!
