OK, so I almost have this bike back to normal after tearing out the Dobeck TFI and getting the stock muffler back on. Put in new Iridium plugs while I had everything apart and both cylinders seem to fire fine. It started right up, ran a little rough and even after about five minutes of idle/revving in neutral I still have a large hesitation when cranking the throttle open at idle. It didn't seem to do this when the TFI was installed and the empty Jardine was mounted. So I'm wondering what the issue could be. I have not checked the mechanical timing yet, will do that this weekend. I have not connected with ECMspy to see if anything looks out of whack, will do that this weekend. The only other thing I can think of is that I got the to plugs on the wrong injectors. Or that the fuel system is really dirty. The fuel pump does seem to make a lot of noise, much more than I would have guessed so not sure if it is normal. Damn I hate buying used stuff, always a guessing game.

OK, after changing the EFI, spark plugs and muffler, IMHO the next thing you have to do is to take the bike out on the road and run it at steady speed around 3500 rpms for about 10 minutes. Why? In case you don't know, these bikes run in closed loop mode at low to mid rpms in order to learn its new environment and adjust to ambient conditions.

If this doesn't help it run better, then try a TPS reset.

I was going to do a TPS reset first thing after checking a few of the other diagnostics. I'm concerned about the fan, seems a little stiff to me so I need to make sure it is actually going to run when the time comes.

So what you are saying is that this may be normal until the ECM learns what is really happening with the engine. That TFI was fooling with the O2 reading going back to the ECM for as long as it was attached, so it makes sense.

Troubles at the DMV so not sure I'll get to run it on the road until next week (or later). if it takes much longer I think I'll just put it up for the winter and start on the new paint scheme.
