Seeing as I managed to ruin my new tire in under 2000 miles, which tire would you guys go with? The dealership has the Scorpion in stock but would have to order the Diablo Corsa 3. | ||

Interesting question, I would like to hear the input on too. The Diablo Corsa 3, the stock ones of course, seem to be a really good tire with a lot of good reviews. I like the way they stick to the road so if I have to buy a set every couple thousand miles, that is ok with me. The Scorpions I haven't heard of, so maybe someone will input on those. | ||

Depends on your riding style, preferences & available income for tires I'd say. The Corsa III is a good dual compound tire. It gives decent life for what it is, and works fairly well at a trackday for a novice/mid-pack intermediate rider. The Scorpion has more rubber, so should give longer mileage. I don't trust them as much in agressive riding like the Corsa III's though. I've also heard good things on Pilot Road 2's for good feel & wear (road biased) and the Pilot Power 2's for good grip wet or dry (track biased). Haven't seen any negative press on BT016's either. It all depends on what type of riding you plan on doing IMO. Once you've determined that, then get tires that fit that need. I'll let you in on a secret though, most name brand tires nowadays are pretty darn good.  | ||

i just put a brigdestone battlax BT016 on the rear and i havent found a weakness different than the corsa 3 same confidence level with both. my rear went out around 2000 also. i feel ur pain. | ||

Getting 2000 miles from a Corsa III rear is really, really good. In the twisties I'll eat one in about 1100 miles. I have a lot of faith in the Corsa III even at the track. I've managed (on a clear track) to get into club racing mid-pack novice pace on them with confidence they could go faster if I knew how to. | ||

The Corsa III was my break-in tires. I switched to Rossos after that and have stayed with them. I like the first 1/2 of the Rosso's life. Good grip, nice and light steering. The second half.. not so good. Tends to seek pavement irregularities. Still, I use the Rossos for their performance on the 1125. I use Pirelli Stradas for my XB9. The second half of the tire life is better than the Rossos. They don't stick as well as the Rossos though. They also last longer. In both cases, when I put a new set on, there's lots of center thread left. | ||

It does depend on how you ride. I like the Scorpions they came stock om my Multistrada. Its a real good street tire with good grip and good wear. But I did do some laps at the track on them and the rear got greasy and I almost high sided. Not a good track tire. For a street tire I still prefer them on that bike, I'm just not gonna ride it at the track. | ||

Bridgestone BT=016. I don't think you will find a better street/track tire for the money. | ||

Fresno, Have you put the 016 on the track? I tried a set of the BT003RS this weekend after all the raving. I did NOT like them at all as a track tire. Very poor performance trying to turn in under heavy braking loads, and I had completely exhausted them in just two track days. The Corsa III remains the best performing tire I've found that doesn't recommend warmers. I've not tried the Michelins, though. | ||

The bto16 did not give me the confidence of the corsa, esp. the front, at high lean angles. The rear wears considerably longer, though. The scorps last atleast 30-40% longer front and rear, but do not have near the grip at high lean angles, and don't like lots of throttle while leaned over. I have several track days on the BT-016s. Good wear characteristics. Predictable sliding, but not much sliding overall. The BT-003s have gotten poor reviews in the moto mags, so I am not surprised at your assessment. I really, really like them, esp. after my track day from hell with scorching temperatures. They came thru with no problems and only started to get a bit squirley the last couple of sessions at the peak of the heat. | ||

I'm going to give the 016 a shot as a road tire sometime, but the local race vendor has me convinced to try a Pirelli Dragon Corsa Pro for the track, and upgrade to warmers as well. I'll run my remaining sets of 002s and 003s that I got a great deal on as street tires in Arkansas where things like trail braking performance aren't critical (or even necessary, really). |
