hello all, I'm in the process of buying my second 1125...I currently have a CR and want an R strictly for the track...As most of you already know, the 08 is allot cheaper than then the 09...in my case, I can pick one up for $8500 OTD oppose to $12,000 OTD.. I'd rather pay for an 08, but I like the the 09's black frame oppose to the 08 blue frame...I just can't seem to get over the blue frame!!! Other than buying carbon fiber or fiberglass "frame covers"...is there an easy way to paint this frame black without tearing down the bike? I would greatly appreciate any feedback as to your idea's or what you may have personally done to change the color of your blue frame... Thanks |

to me its the blue wheels with the blue frame that i dont like - someone put silver wheels with polished lips on their blue frame R and it looked GOOD - their bike is orange but i think the silver wheels would look good on a black bike with blue frame - the wheels make all the difference |

I painted my XB9 firebolt. Twice.. first silver which is the OEM color. but then I went with the dark graphite from the XB12s graphite color with black color wheels I'm sure it can be done. The secret is to use lots of blue painters tape. |

What did you paint the frame and wheels with? and where? How's the durability (pants rubbing against the frame while riding)? |

You can always strip it off and go with aluminum like the race bikes. But I like the blue. Also lets not forget why the blue is there in the first place. The 08 is the anniversary addition. It may even be collectible some day. Sure your scuffing, but It is not only a special addition, but also a first year model. So go ahead paint over it and make it a track bike. |

Johnnysunami1967 That was my first bike. Only been riding for 2 1/2 yrs. It was an 04 Firebolt XB9R. I bought it with faded blue plastics and the nasty white wheels. Since I like Ford Cobras. I painted it Ford Competition Orange. It was shot with an hvlp spray gun, and so were the wheels. The frame was painted with a rattle can. Directly from the HD dealer. its a Buell paint code. Probably the best paint in a can IMO. Came out real nice. The cost of the paint is 25USD. I had the bike with that color scheme for close to a year. No real issues. But then I took a demo ride on a 1125 CR and it was all over. Had to have one. |

R2s Posted on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 12:45 am: . Also lets not forget why the blue is there in the first place. The 08 is the anniversary addition. It may even be collectible some day. All 2008 Buells came with 25th anniversary badges, not just the ones colored like the loser of a fight. collectible? I remember a neighbor who had the last model year of the AMC pacer and said she was going to keep it because it was collectible.?... I would buy Krugerrands if you looking to collect something. Even the Ford Edsel has not gone up in value. |

I'm guessing your talking to me since you always follow my post. Do you think the 08 will be collectible? First they will have to sell them all the first time. Then whats the resale? Click on e=bay and search 1125 and the checkbox for completed auctions. You would have better luck giving away a fruit cake at Christmas Time. |

Here's what I'd do if it were my money. Buy the 08. Figure out the cost of doing the cosmetic changes. Take that money, and do something useful with it, like a lesson, track day, tires, etc. I think a track only bike looks good when it's up front, no matter the frame or body work color combo. |

07xb12ss..yeah. Hit me up. If the bike frame is painted ...it won't cost more then 75 bucks..That includes the paint plus sandpaper to wetsand. Man..Its his bike..he can do whatever he wants to it. lol But blue frame FTL in my opinion. Paint that sucker Black!!!

Take a hike Brad. Final warning. Your miserable little attempts at poison pills are entirely unwelcome here. |

I can answer your question Brad. I asked several Buell dealers what they'd give me for my 1125 and they didn't want it because they couldn't sell the new ones they had in stock. I paid £8.5GBP just over a year ago and the best deal I could get was £3.5GBP chopping it in for a 1198 Duc. I really like my 1125 and it's worth more than that to me, so I'll be keeping it as a track bike when the warranty is up. |

I like the blue frames and wheels but Stompgrip is reluctant to stick to the finish for some reason (and the surface was properly prepared) Anyone had any success with other grippy stuff - I really like it for heavy braking. |

I will be using Tech Spec on mine. I really like the blue. It is part of what drew me to the bike. Any manufacture could make a black frame. It is just a fad. The blue is unique. ac |

Do you think the 08 will be collectible? I really couldn't care less if the 08 is collectible. I really don't care if you like the 1125r or not. Your life so bad that you feel the need to troll a chat board? Pretty sad. |

Will it be collectible? Who knows 10 or 20 years from now. The first year for the bike that finally gave Buell respect in the race community, and likely its first major AMA title. The anniversary Harley's retain their value better. The recession hurt the sale of all the 08's, but I think a decade or more from now the 08 will be the bike people will remember. Even though it has had it's issues its a historic bike for Buell and an anniversary model. Weather everybody likes the bike or not it will have its place on the Buell time line. |

My 08 bikes won't be worth crap because I'm riding the piss out of them and basically just plan to run them into the ground. I'll have a great set of stories to tell, and an enormous pile of spent tires, brake pads and old oil. What else could a guy really want? |

Amen brother Jdugger! You don't buy a bike as an investment. You buy it as a toy and enjoy the heck out of it. I've lost enough money selling bikes and cars to fund my retirement. I figure I might as well enjoy it while I can, and eat Alpo when I retire. |
