Posting this as a reminder for PPE and group riding. Tonight I was with a group of 8 bikes. Nothing silly or stupid going on. Just 55mph in staggered formation. My XT, one Katana, one KLR and five cruisers. Going uphill (slight hill), left hand easy curve and the bike directly in front of me drifts too close to the edge of the pavement and drops his tires in the dirt. Next thing I see is the explosion of dirt and grass as the rider and bike go flipping end over end down through the ditch. The bike did three endos and landed on its side. Not really sure how many times the rider rolled. Everyone else stayed out of it and got stopped safely. Rider injuries that we know of consisted of a broken pinky finger on the right hand and most likely a concussion. Bike was a V-star 1100 and has mangled handle bars, broke both mirrors off, left floor board bent all up, kickstand, hill toe shifter, headlight assembly, sissy bar, license plate all destroyed. Paint damage to tank and front fender. The point is that the rider WAS wearing all of his PPE and was very lucky that it wasn't worse. He is in the hospital for tonight. Just remember to ride safe and take nothing for granted. Stay alert, stay alive. |

One things for sure, motorcycles have a low tolerance for riders who are not paying attention. I hope your friend pulls through %100. |
