I'm getting the ECM reflashed for the Comfort Kit tomorrow and am wondering if that reflash will include changes made in all previous reflashes. I bought it in February of '09, but it was built in September of '07, so I assume I've missed some ECM updates. |

They don't stack on top of each other - getting the latest update rewrites everything so you'll have the latest of it all. |

Thanks Turk. I had read in another thread that this update only affected the fan operation to maximize the effect of the Comfort Kit. |

That would probably be an update to the latest reflash so the ECM will get reflashed with the comfort kit fan control and the last update together as one. Let us know how your mpg and temps go. |

My dealer told me today that there is no update and that the reflash Buell is referring to isn't necessary. ???? I'm scheduled to have my kit installed a week from Saturday. |

quote:Although not required, to maximize the benefit from the rider comfort kit, a new electronic fuel injection calibration is available for installation. See your local dealer for detailed instructions. Note: The new calibration uses a combined vehicle speed and engine temperature based strategy to optimize the cooling effects of the motorcycle's fan while minimizing the fan's run time.

It looks like from Court's screen shot during his reflash that the Calibration ID is M31US261, Part # is Y0152.1AM. I guess that's what I'll ask for this afternoon. We'll see what my dealer has. |

Froggy, Are you referring to my post about the dealer stating that there is no update? At present my bike runs badly when cold yet my dealer found nothing wrong when they had it a week ago. This is the same dealer that tells me that BMC has no new recalibration even though on their website it's in black and white. Go figure. This is what frustrates me most about dealers. |

Print off the Buell.com page too. I honestly don't see why so many dealers have such an issue to do something so simple! Changing a seat takes more time and effort. (Message edited by froggy on August 14, 2009) |

I did that and will take it with me when I go. The last time I did take a printout with me they still insisted that there was no update and refused to reflash the ecm even though I took the printout with me. The insistance was because they claimed that the # I gave them was for the 1125 and not my XT. As I said in a previous post, right now the bike runs like crap! To make matters worse, when I got it back last Saturday they tried to charge a diagnostic fee. After I insisted it should be warrantied they didn't charge me after all. |

The part number Y0152.1AM is for an ECM with no programming on it. To my best understanding, all BDDFI3 bikes (08+ XB, 1125) all use the same ECM. You just load different data on it for whatever year/model you got. The calibration number is the one you want. I see you are in Kansas, I forget the name of the dealer Court recommends out your way, I would take my business elsewhere as much as possible. |

Froggy, yes, I'm in Kansas and the dealer recommended by Court is 157 miles away in Lawrence. In Wichita where I live Alefs HD/Buell is 15 miles away and I have an appointment there a week from tomorrow. If they still can't (won't) work with me then I'll have no choice but to go to Lawrence and have already made alternate plans to do just that. Here we go again on dealer problems. I'll update everyone in a week once I get the bike back. Until then I'm installing the rss and header shield, letting Alefs do the fan shroud. They agreed in principle to one hour for that and if they do a reflash it will be no cost. Thanks. Bob |

Just returned from dealer. Reflash kept failing, so they replaced the ECM and reflash worked fine. During 10 mile ride home, I noticed the fan running constantly, but at different speeds. Most of the ride was 30 mph and it's 90 degrees air temp. When I stopped for a light, the fan slowed down almost off. When I parked in the garage, the fan did not run at all. Noticed better acceleration from dead stop, and smoother at 3k rpm than it was before, not because of the comfort kit certainly, but this is the 1st ECM update since I bought the bike. Not a long ride, but seat remained noticeably cooler, and I'm likin' that! Calibration ID was indeed M31US261. |

Glad to get that clarified - someone had previously posted M31US25Z as the update for the 'comfort' ride. Thanks! j |
