Simple answer..................DON'T,all the info I have been given, and a mate who owns a muffler shop, has said it will crack the headers and make the whole thing brittle, ceramic coating is the go!
Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear, but going on all the info I have been told, that'd be what I'd be doing.

Without any question, the best thing to wrap exhaust pipes with is "Luster Lace".

It is a polish impregnated tape that polishes the pipes to a great shine.

Just wrap it around the pipes, and pull it back and forth.

Start out with fine sandpaper to get rid of tool marks.

Not sure how it works on late model pipes with the matte finish.

i used DEI header wrap silicone spray to help make the wrapping stand up to the elements, but it only worked for a season.

i didn't crack my headers, but it did corrode them pretty badly. sandblaster cleaned it right up, and made them all pretty again.

DEI works well, Jegs or Summit is the place to get the stuff.

It's been on my R1 (Yamaha) for almost 100,000 miles. And an aftermarket exhaust system on my old..FZR1000, before that.
Something must be wrong though...NO cracks!!

Right now...it's on both my 1125CR and my XB12R.
As to any uglyness....yea, there may be some on the tubing...but it's UNDER the wrap. so I don't really care...!

Had mine wrapped for 2 years now with DEI stuff.
Haven't had any problems with it.
Actually worked well enough killing heat that mine are now double wrapped most of the way down.
I sprayed them with black BBQ paint to keep them black. Looks good still

I'll second what Vortec57 said! I wrapped mine over 2 years ago with DEI and haven't had any troubles. To keep it looking fresh, I respray it with DEI silicone impregnated black header paint every 6 months. It helps keep the wrap looking like it was just put on.

This is true with steel pipes. Wrapping will not hurt our Stainless Steel pipes!

1.) Bacon. Everything is better wrapped in bacon!

2.) The meat department.

Unionman- where you in sturgis?

Anyways- I know a couple guys that have had their pipes wrapped and none have cracked, but they have all rusted. The wrap holds water thus oxidizing the steel and rusting them.

Maybe spray with high temp rustolium before wrapping?

I don't know, but I'm wrapping my force pipe-
