I saw this on killboy, I want one of these belts, I have a three and a half year old and shes getting too big to ride in front of me and it terrifies me for her to ride behind me, I'll still be extra careful with one of these one for her to hang on to but not as terrified, please help...  What is it called and where do I get one? | ||

Seems like you could rig one up pretty easily using a weight lifting belt with some cable machine handles slipped through. If you can't find one to buy, that is. ~SM | ||

I'm hesitant about those things. I have never personally seen a buddy belt but have to wonder if there is any way to get tangled up in it. Maybe not tangled but get into it so as be hard to let loose. My wife had a habit of putting her thumbs through my belt loops and I had to explain to her that if we ever got thrown off her thumbs would probably be broken or worse. | ||

When I take my nephew for a ride I just grab one of my regular pants belt and put it loosely around my chest. Works for me. | ||

i had a luggage strap that i put around me. my daughter just grabs on and away we go. sometimes i just leave my pockets unzipped on my riding jacket so she can reach in and hang on. both way's work really well. | ||

I just tell them to hang on to me. I've got love handles like fishing piers so there's plenty to grab. | ||

thanks for the tips, searching for buddybelt I was able to find some competition, IE this PowerMAdd rider hold tight which looks identical to the one in the picture, best part is dennis kirk has them for 30 bucks. When I saw the picture this morning I didn't even notice the kid in shorts, I know I just needed something like that belt. every weekend my little girl begs me to take her to the park on the motorcycle to play and she knows the drill, long pants, elbow, kneepads and helmet and sun glasses. This will just make it so much easier although I still wonder about how it'll work during breaking.... Hell I just take her to the park going down side streets no more than 35mph, I don't know if I could stand it riding the dragon with a passenger. Albeit a little 40lb one | ||

save the money and get some handle bar tie down straps and lace them onto your belt. They work great for my 10 year old, and he doesn't like to ride without them.  Another thing about the buddy belts, we had them for the waverunners, the actual handles are made for hands of say a 10 or 12 year old and up and the rubber is loose on the solid handle, IMO its harder for small hands to grasp the buddy belt firmly. Just don't let your rider loop his/her hands through those belts. I would hate to think about a pair of riders in a crash loosely tethered by their wrists. Probably goes without saying, but still worth saying. | ||

goes without saying.... he grabs a hold of em like reins on a horse. When we take off from stop signs, I feel him slap the reins up and down as if he was on a horse. Pretty funny actually, some friends we went riding with not too long ago, said he never sat still the entire time. | ||

There was a version of that idea for small kids that had them secured to you. Belt around you and them. Or atleast that's what i thought the design was. | ||

You could rig something steady up with a decent webbing belt and a set of screw down abseiling karabiners? | ||
