So, I was out riding one of my favorite roads this morning (Vt-17) and low sided on a tight lefthander near the top of the Gap. As best I can tell, I went into the turn too hot, had bad body position, and ended up trying to lean the bike way too much for the turn. I didn't touch the brakes in the corner, though I may have let up on the throttle The front end broke loose and down I went. The bike stopped in the breakdown lane before hitting anything and I wasn't too far behind it. It's really a simple case of me pushing beyond MY abilities My back, elbow, and pride are a little sore, but other than that, I'm fine. I had all my gear on so that saved things from being a lot worse. Everything is scuffed up pretty good, but better the gear than me. The bike is in surprisingly good shape. The left controls, frame puck, left footpeg, and left pannier took the brunt of the fall and slide. I was able to ride it home, but now I've got a bunch of things to repair. I'd really appreciate it if someone with a parts manual could get me the numbers for the broken stuff: * left foot peg (will 09's work? I've heard they're better) * handlebar end cap * left deflector * pivot shaft and riser - I probably don't need to replace these but I noticed one of the screw heads is stripped * clutch lever * left mirror * left turn signal * windscreen - I may not replace this right away since it's just scuffed a bit Anyway, lessons learned and time to get the bike back together. |

Post up in the wanted section of the classifieds. The lever, signals, and mirror will be easy to get. The rest you might have to buy new. Glad overall that you are ok |

I have end caps if you want them. They are not the type that you can add the handguards on, but you are welcome to them. Just pay shipping. Let me know and I can get a shipping cost. |

Ouch! Glad to hear you are OK! It'll be interesting to see what comes of your post; I need a clutch lever and left turn signal (maybe just the lens) after I fell off the loading ramp last week. |

Thanks for all the thoughts and offers for parts. And thanks for the part numbers Sekalilgai. I forgot to mention that mine is an O7. Dnveloman, it may have been. I live in Grantham and work in Lebanon. I usually take the back roads through Enfield to get to and from work. I keep playing things over in my mind. I never had an "Oh $#!+" moment until I was sliding along the road with the bike in front of me. I certain don't remember thinking "Oh $#!+, I'm going into this turn way to fast." I'm just going to chalk it up to STUPIDITY and adrenaline. That road is too much fun. I really can't wait to get back to the scene of the crime and hit that corner again (though more slowly ) |

I certain don't remember thinking "Oh $#!+, I'm going into this turn way to fast." I road raced for 6 years, 3 of which was on the national level. I can't remember more than a couple of times when that wasn't the case. It's usually the "What the f@#$ " moments when you are on the ground before you realize it. Trying to understand what went wrong makes you a better rider. |

Just curious, what tires are you running and at what pressures? |

I switched to the STradas front and rear. I was burning through the Syncs too fast. I was running them at 36/38 cold. |

Skid, Let me join in the GLAD YOU ARE OK! chorus! 2. Did you switch to the STradas after or before the low side? |

I put the STradas on this past April. They've got a little over 4K on them and still have plenty of life left. With the Syncs, I'd probably be looking to replace the rear at this point. |

I'm glad your get-off wasn't worse and you are OK. I've added VT-17 to my route to Auburn NY from Franconia NH on Friday. Looks like a very interesting road. |

Chalk that one up to lesson learned. I've had 6 or 7 nasty snowmobile crashes and almost as many m\c crashes not even talking about the broken bones and dislocations from pedal bikes, most of the time I'll get that OH s##t as I'll flying through the air watching my bike, snowmobile flipping and rolling. I always get back on? |

Rwven, Vt17 is one of the best roads in New England, IMO. There's a pull-off at the top of the Gap with great views if the weather's nice. Enjoy! |

Well, I got all the parts in Monday and finished getting them all installed today and the Uly's back on the road. I took it for a little shakedown run tonight and everything seems normal. So, with the exception of some scuffed plastic, all's right with the world |
