American sportbike has an extended part that replaces the OEM item. I think it's about 4.5 inches taller than stock. They are a sponsor here. There are probably other options too. There was a recent post about a removable system being tested. Look on the XB or quick board for that one. You know another thing that's nice are the CityX/Uly handguards maybe to augment an extended or larger screen. You could check in the classified section here they come up for sale from time to time. Or post WTB. The dealer will be able to order you all the handguard stuff. |

Rydberg, the dyna fairing is nice looking and does block the wind at the torso. It also however increases the wind noise at helmet level significantly. Have one on both my '71 and '07 sportsters. Love the look, no more effective than the stock screen on my '09 XT.... (Message edited by tiltcylinder on October 07, 2009) |

Laminar Lip. They also make one for the H-D Sportster 1/4 fairing. |

I have a Zero Gravity Ulysses windscreen attached to my XB12Ss with the Palmer Products brackets: http://www.palmerproducts.co.uk/ Actually, my black XB12Ss is the one shown on Palmer Products' Website. The Palmer brackets allow you to adjust the windshield for 9 different positions. However, I have found that the lowest, and tilted back position works well for me. It keeps the wind from pounding my chest at freeway speeds, but allows my helmet to remain in "clean" air. Also, because the original cowling of the Lightning is mounted with only four screws instead of six like the Ulysses, I had to add a pair of cowl mounting screws (#10-32 UNF Stainless Button Head Cap Screw with nylon washer) to keep the added windscreen from vibrating, especially when just off idle. However, this requires some VERY careful drilling and tapping into the upper spars of the front support module. The support module is either aluminum or magnesium... I forget which, but treat it as if it were magnesium, and you should be OK. Also, I did use blue Loctite (242) on these additional screws. Everything seems to be holding together just fine. Here are a few links to some pics of my bike with this setup: http://pdg.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Trips/Trip-arou nd-Lake-Winnebago/PB010006edited-1/701813948_BoKcK -L.jpg http://pdg.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Trips/Trip-arou nd-Lake-Winnebago/PB010030edited-1/701829934_ByvSm -L.jpg http://pdg.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Trips/Trip-arou nd-Lake-Winnebago/PB010060edited-1/701843797_3LSAF -L.jpg http://pdg.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Trips/Trip-arou nd-Lake-Winnebago/PB010047edited-1/701837356_rP5Bp -L.jpg |
