August 2,2009 took a ride with two of my buddys that asked me to go to savanna,IL. for a nice ride. ejoying a beautiful day of ridin and i was just cominn out of a turn, bike is straight up and i went to slow down as my buddy was in front of me and due to the john deere tracker i went to apply the front brake and the front end of the bike washed out from under me at 55 or 60 mph. bike slide about 300 or 400 feet and i tumbled about 60 to 70 feet. broke my collar bone reeay bad and have some serious roadrash all over. done ridin the bike this year. oh and bike hit the ground and no damage to frame but rear swingarm thashed |

Were you on some gravel or sand? Seems really weird that if you were straight up that the front would wash out. Or did you lock up the front? Sorry to hear about your mishap. |

I went for the clavicle surgery. They put a plate on it and I went back to work in 5 wks. clavicles take a long time to heal. I would have gone back a bit sooner if it wasn't for the 8 broken ribs. Ouch! |

Sorry to hear about that. I'm glad your ok. I'm kinda in the same boat. Bike slid out going around a curve. Broke 2 ribs, shoulder and compound fracture on my left forearm. No road rash though. Bike was totaled. Thank goodness for ATGATT. Here's hoping you have a quick recovery!! |

something similar happened to me and broke my collar bone as well. It is the second time I brake it so I think I have a good idea of how much time they need to heal. It takes around 6 weeks to heal and like twice as much to be able to trust it for ridding again. I rode my 1125r 2 months after I broke it. So is no that long. Of course if you have to get surgery, is another story. |

Ouch, I rear ended a car 3 weeks ago and broke my collar bone, but it only kept me out of the saddle for about 5 days. I just bought a new CR to hold me over till I get my other bike fixed. Good luck! |

Sounds like he locked it up. In a panic if you apply the front brake too fast, the weight of the bike doesn't get a chance to shift forward, and the lack of weight on the front wheel will cause it to lock up, and if your not Valentino Rossi, your screwed. |

I've locked up the front on my XB doing about 70 when a moron pulled in front of me. Crushed the boys and I about shat myself...but at least I had the where-with-all to pulse the lever and not go down...your story makes me even happier that I didn't spill. Here's to a speedy recovery and many more miles! |

Hey guys. I am the first to admit that I will not go out in full leathers on public roads, but I feel these slider jeans are a good compromise. They are nice and look cool. I have even had people compliment me on the looks not having any idea they were for riding. http://www.compacc.com/p.cfm/c/1008008/p/21798 |

I wear the Kevlar jeans too, pretty comfy honestly. I'll admit, my riding gear usually only consists of a helmet, gloves, pants and boots. I really need to get into the habit of wearing a jacket. Best of luck bud and hope ya heal fast! |

George, When you first got out the sling was your arm heavy? I just got out of my sling yesterday after seperating my shoulder. It is healing pretty good for only being a few weeks. My arm feels very heavy. I can move it but it is a struggle when I move it certain directions. |

after about two weeks i would stretch it but. the first time i took it out my arm would fall because it was so stiff i had to use force to straighten my arm after that it was fine. Depending on how long you were in the sling you probably lost muscle mass making everyday movement seem harder. |

After every time I broke a bone, It would take a few days after getting out of the cast to get back to mostly normal movement. My muscles would deteriorate to the point that you could see tons of extra room in the cast from when they first put it on. Just take it easy and it will come back. |

I'm recovering from ACL reconstruction now. The physical therapist explained to me that within 6 hours of the injury, your body is already starting to reconfigure the muscles to adapt... meaning they will have to reconfigure to unadapt as well. It became clear to me on standing on the wobbly end of this "half a ball" thingy and trying to do a squat. That left leg was wobbling all over the place trying to balance (all involuntary). |

Hit the therapy hard, man. Somebody once told me when they say you'll get back XX% mobility, that means that XX% of people do the therapy right. Do it right, and do it all. Good luck!!! R |

Sorry to hear about your crash. I broke my collar bone in 1977 on an RD 400 Yamaha. Still has a big knot on it today but never bothers me. I wear "Force Field" knee and butt armor under jeans in hot weather. Good luck and Godspeed, hope you'r riding again soon. |

Glad to hear you're still in one piece, more or less, but sorry to hear you'll be off your ride for a while. I totally agree with Carbon--attack your physical therapy like a bulldog on a milkbone. People say "you only get out what you put in" about a lot of things; physical therapy is one instance where that is the absolute truth. |
