I have a '99 Cyclone that was laid down on the left side. The shifter that was on it mounted on one of the bottom primary bolts.Where the foot peg mount bolts on to a sportster. A different stock? shifter came with it. What does the stock shifter mount on? A special foot peg? Any one know the part number is for it? Any idea what the other shifter came off of? |

The older Cyclones had the 'boomerang' style shifter that pivoted around the footpeg and had a long shaft that went forward to the shift shaft via a secondary linkage. The '01s and up have a shifter mounted on the bottom of the primary and up to the shaft shaft. The new style linkage is more desirable than the older one, less slop and more precise shifting. The new style linkage will fit right on the older bike, my guess is that yours was updated. I found the following two pics on the net, they're not the stock parts but will give you an idea. Old (98-00)
New (01-02)

Thanks Prior for the reply. I've got everything for the old o.e.m. set up except for the peg mount that it goes on. Hope to find one on line. The local dealer parts guy is lazy and has a bad attitude. Of course I never buy late model stuff and when he tries to sell me fancy crome stuff instead of what I ask for I decline. |

I think there's a spacer on the footpeg- I'll look at mine when I get home. The stock parts for the '01-'02 bikes fit on the older models and provide much smoother shifting- perhaps this is what the parts guy was telling you about. |

If you look at your right side peg, the brake lever pivots about the footpeg in the same manner the shifter will on the left side. You'll have to pull the bolt out that holds the peg on to get it in there. Perhaps post a pic of your setup and I can help you out a bit more. |
