Last weekend i took my S2 on its farewell ride as me owning it. it looks like i found someone on badweb interested in my bike and its going home with him tomorrow! needless to say, in memory of my bike, i took it on a day trip on my absolute favorite mountain pass in the region. its called Monitor Pass, and its about 80 miles south of reno, NV. i generally tie in a ride around lake tahoe as i go either towards the pass or back home. i took a couple pics. it was just me and my dad on the ride.. he on his brand new victory vegas! Here we are fueling up right before the pass. i went ahead since my dad cant hang through the twisties like me and my S2 can. i waited up for him at the top.. Here we are at the top of the pass. the pass changes elevation by over 2000 feet from bottom to top, and this lookout point is awesome because you can see 3 separate valley floors cross sectioned. its killer.. and of course a fire rocket red S2 in the foreground (and a very mean victory with an owner that hasnt found the throttle yet!)... the next leg of the trip is a tiny town called markleeville, CA. its about 1/2 mile from tip to tip, and has a killer deli/ice cream shop. its a must-stop every time your in the area. of course other bikes are curious and decide to park next to the S2... what else is new?? we had lunch, then headed back north up to lake tahoe. rode around the east half of the lake and right before dropping back into the reno valley, we stopped at the lookout point. its always breathtaking... however this last weekend there's a little smoke in the air thanks to region's wildfires -lame- well there ya go. now the bike is washed off and ready to go home with someone else who is eager to learn all about how badass the S2 really is! ill miss it! Pete. Congratulations! Nice choice of models. Good to see you're back safely. Staying put for a while, I hope? Are you going to be up for Border Raid? |

That is a sexy paintjob. I've been toying on the idea of buying new skins for my S2 and putting the originals in storage to keep them safe. Congrats to the new owner. Now go ride the hell out of it. |

Frank, you will definitely need to update your list. I am on it at the moment as the owner, but I would imagine that when he gets home and settled, he will get the name changed over FYI Pete is currently en route from reno to spokane which is over 1000 miles! ...now THATS dedication! |

I know the feeling. I flew to Detroit to pick mine up and rode it home to Amarillo, ~1600 miles. |

Hey all. Made it home safe and sound. I even (hopefully) qualified for my SaddleSore 1000. Made the 1000 miles with 15 minutes to spare. Never doubted for a minute that Erik and the Elves' handywork would get me home in one swell foop. Little sore (definitely a more dedicated position than the M2), but mostly my face hurts from the permanent grin . Eric, yep got home from the last trip to Iraq in Feb. Dropped my retirement papers for a 1 Jun 2010 retirement dat so no more trips for this little grey duck. No joy on Border Raid this year. Just bought 5 acres north of the base and the list of honeydos is long and involved. Definitely something I want to try in my golden years of retirement. Frank, I'll hit you up with my info. Any suggestions as to where to look for the Signature Series stuff? Pete |
