Erik Buell will be at Cycle Connection Harley-Davidson/Buell in Joplin, Mo. on March 20, 2009. There will be a VIP meet and greet with Erik at 5pm and then he will speak about the Trilogy of Tech at 7pm. Cycle Connection will also be doing free demo rides, along with free dyno readings from 11am - 4pm. The bike with the greatest horsepower will receive a GREAT ICON prize! Cycle Connection's stunt team "Ill Conduct" will perform at 4pm and then again at 6pm. Sounds like an event worth checking out! |

Would you like to improve your riding skills? Hallett Motor Racing Circuit has developed a program designed to improve your skills while safely testing the limits of your motorcycle. All first-time Hallett MLD riders must attend the rider training program. Exception: If you have a current race license, bring it with you. The training program can be waived at sign-in and you can ride in the race group. If you are an experienced track rider without a race license, we still want you to attend Hallett’s rider training program; our instructors will determine the appropriate group for your level of experience. With an instructor’s approval, you may transfer to the street or the race group throughout the day. All first-time Hallett MLD riders (who do not possess a current race license) will be assessed a $30 charge for the program; therefore, the total fees, including Hallett Advanced Rider Training are: $110 for a Friday or Monday, $130 for a Saturday or Sunday MOTORCYCLE LAPPING DAYS RULES OF THE ROAD Motorcycle Requirements Rider's Gear Good Tires No Fluid Leaks Tape or Remove: Turn Signals Mirrors Brake Light Headlight Rear Pegs DOT approved helmet that is less than 5 years old and has not been crashed Full leathers preferred Two-piece leathers acceptable Textile suit with armor acceptable Back protector Over-the-ankle boots Gloves (that cover wrists) TRACK INTRODUCTION AND RIDER TRAINING Our program is primarily designed to improve street riding skills by introducing the advantage of track instruction, enhanced by classroom sessions. Our curriculum takes a multifaceted approach, with an instructor based program designed for all levels of rider’s expertise. Our program’s focus is on the typical motorcycle street rider who is interested in exploring and expanding the potential of their equipment and ability. Although many of our enrollees have track experience, the novice group is separated to allow for individual instruction without the worries of a speed differential of faster and/or more experienced riders. Our focus is on the typical street rider; therefore, our team of professional riding instructors is comprised of street oriented riders, who have cumulatively logged over a million miles. Moreover, these “street instructors” are track proficient as well as highly qualified coaches who have logged thousands of track miles as motorcycle riding and safety instructors. There is no safer place to discover new techniques than at Hallett Advanced Rider Training. Basic Course Outline Appropriate lines Line of vision Body position Throttle management Smooth shifting and braking Counter-steering vs. body-steering How to avoid panic reactions Safety equipment |

New to buell and the group rides, may meet up with you guys sometime for one. Do you ever meet up or ride to things that are not bike related? Im a big fight fan and would be interested in riding to Salina or Newkirk ect. to see some. Just checkin to see if anyone else maybe also, or if you have other ideas of things to do. |

Well most of the time we have been just bike related. Family & other commitment have slowed us down quite a bit this last year. We have got a few new guys that have just started riding this year. May 1 is a huge Steak feed that I have been going to in Mulvane Ks.. I was hoping to get more of the Buell group in Wichita to go to. I haven’t been to fight in 15 or 20 years. I’d be willing to go. Cassoday ride this April 5. |

I'd like to make it in time for the food. May need to be on road by 8 or 8:30 at the latest. Just need to find what road to take, 81 or I-135, and a point to meet. Anywhere is fine with me. |
