I've been riding Buell's now for a few years and currently ride a 1125CR...After seeing Eslick and some of your home video's of track days here on BadWeb, I've decided to purchase an R to use strictly on the track...I've never done a real track day on a super bike and would like to learn to ride better, and possibly join groups who do track days regularly... So with that said, I'm really looking to "trick out" the new bike and plan on doing some serious mods to improve handling and braking...i'm not too worried about HP or speed just yet, as I feel the stock nuclear reactor provides more than enough power for my skill set at this time. Could someone tell me where I could get a set of factory wheels powder coated to match the color of the full fairing kit that i'm planning to have custom painted? In other words, i'd like the color of the bike to match the wheels...My original plan was to stop by a local auto body shop to have them paint the fairing, but they don't do powder coating...so does anyone know who or where I could send both the wheels and fairing to get painted at the same time so the color matches relatively perfect? Also, what would be an average cost to have wheels powder coated? I live within the tri-state area of Phila Pa/New Jersey/Delaware, so if anyone knows a shop who could do this job in the area mentioned, that would be a huge plus! |

I don't know shit about paint, but... Since it sounds like you have money to burn, why not paint your magnesium wheels and sell your stock ones?! Race takeoffs or Bridgestones once you eat through the OEM tires. EBC brake pads The reccomended suspension settings are horrible for the track. Higbee even uses rear offsets. Ride height: Rear Preload = 1, Front = 7. Then adjust front sag to 30 or 35mm, rear 20 or 25mm OSB Performance ECM flash If you get an 08 TEST RIDE IT and make sure the tachometer doesn't violently vibrate and blurr at mid to high RPMs. Also makes sure you get the many fixes done. Twinmotorcycles.nl has a better faring than buell's. I have a carbon fairing (Ilmberger) but PM me for details. I also have smaller scoop covers that attach to front fairing (not pictured) (Message edited by CLARKJW on July 30, 2009) |

Very difficult to match powdercoat to paint, much easier to have your parts coated then bring them in to paint shop who would be able to match the color. I charge 75 per wheel provided the rotors and bearings are pulled before I get them. Price goes up depending on specialty colors but usually no more than 100 per wheel. Not all that far from ya PM me and I can get you pointed in the right direction without breaking the bank. Rich |

Hey Hammer and Clarkjw, awesome info...everything the two of you just mentioned is exactly what i'm looking for... Clark: The Ilmberger Carbon Fiber fairing was what i had in mind (yours looks great, but let me get this straight...Youre creating a injection mold plastic that looks exactly like the Ilmbergers? If so, yes I am very interested...What do I need to do get a complete set and will brackets be available as well? Hammer: I am assuming you do powder coating, I'd like to touch bases with you soon and get you my wheels... Could the two of you please send me PM, so i can talk to the two of you personally? Thanks for the info!! (Message edited by johnnysunami1967 on August 02, 2009) |

Clarkjw: Whats the big deal if your tach needle vibrates/blurs at high RPM? Other than it being tough to read accurately (its past its peak Hp & torque values anyways) whats the big drawback? I only ask this because my 1125R does this somewhere north of 9.5k Thanks! |

The needle shaking is not normal. See Ken Hill's videos. It means it's either not fueling or sparking properly (or both) you may need new plugs or injectors. |
