I get these beautiful women that are 25 years younger than me.....that send me messages with pictures thru face book and my space as well as my home email and yahoo address.Always something like this: Hi,I seen your profile on line............or (today on my space)Hello Sir, How are you doing today? Are You also a new member? Well, I just want to ask you a question, " Should it always be the men who seeks the ladies love or does the lady stand a chance in seeking the man's love when she finds the man as a perfect match? Kindly read my profile and let me know if we both can start somewhere, I’m currently online, let me know if we can instant message each other, Strongly4us Elizabeth - Yeah right,33 years old and half a country away. Why would they even need to be looking .........for as good looking as they are. And why would they be looking WAY outside their area? Scammers,of course! I usually reply with something like this:You're a cutie and too good to be true..........so I'm sure you are some guy from Nigeria ,trying to scam me. They usually don't reply after that, but some do and then I get gross or gay and they still keep trying to win my confidence, Just for entertainment, I play some of them along if I'm bored.......what fun! I actually don't use or need face book or my space, but friends talk me into it(classmates/biker buds)
So I google my user names and find my self here, the Borg, and various gun/boat/chainsaw/snowmobile and camera forums......not exactly the places you would look to scam a guy. Whats odd is that they get to me thru sites that don't have any of my contact information available. Are they hacking the database where I signed up and listed an address to get registered/confirmed? |

Its all random number generated by when you sign on, how often you sign on, what else you have searched since you have been on last (dont believe me? try searching something out landish like OKRA all the ads will start having okra in their text somewhere) If the bob you to a cam site, its bunk. You can do the new signature block that will slow some of it down. And of course if you do need a russian bride that is half your age, from clear across the planet... drop me a note. I know quite a few. |

I'm active duty Navy, and I still get junk mail from Navy recruiters who asking me to enlist. If you don't think that's a scam, you've obviously not spent time in the military My favorite is the emails that tell me about my umpteen billion dollar inheritance from Nigeria that can be transferred directly into my bank account if only I reply with my account and routing numbers. If those emails are true then I've had a lot of rich family members dying in Africa the past few months.. |

They get the addresses from a combination of sources... 1) Crawling the open web. 2) Address books of infected computers. 3) Hacked websites. 4) Data stolen and sold by insiders (an AOL employee sold a few million). 5) Total guesses. Google Mail does a pretty darn good job of filtering most of that stuff out.... |

Fortunately, girls half my age are still legal... Wait a minute, that's not a good thing. Or is it? Damn, no it's not. |

I got this one by replying to a housing wanted ad on craigslist. (trying to find a roommate) This isn't the first scam email I've gotten via craigslist, and the scary thing is that they're good! notice how everything is a generalized statement so a name can be pasted into the email and it will apply to thousands of situations. Hi Phillip, Thanks so much for the mail,i really do appreciate the introductory email.I'll be happy if you can rent out the place to me as i'd love to get a place before my arrival. (the word place can apply to a house, duplex, appt, etc.) More about me..I have been a humanitarian officer that involved in projects that includes orphans, orphanages and heart related diseases in children between the ages of 4-10yrs for the past 8 months.I have now decided to leave here and come over there to invest and pursue my initial discipline which is being a pediatric nurse.I have thought of it and i understand that moving to a more civilized area will help... (leave "here" and move "there"?) Reference....I worked under my uncle for eight months and he is still running the non governmental organization, which involves in projects that includes orphans, orphanages and heart related diseases...And before that i schooled in united kingdom before moving down to Australia after the death of my dad....I live presently in Australia. (the word uncle is a pretty big red flag for me. Along with the grammatical errors: "which involves in projects that includes orphans, orphanages") I am 27 years old female Australian from queensland (north east Australia).I don't drink nor smoke but i'm cool living with people that do,i have no pets and also dont have a boyfriend presently.I like honest, responsible, trustworthy and hardworking people while I dislike lazy, messy, uncaring people and I love pets so much,i am quiet and easy going person to live with. I'm 5"7' straight. I always love to go on date but seldom party. I swim for fun and sometimes play tennis. (a straight, single, 27 yo Australian female does not want to live with me in Oklahoma. Common sense should kick in right about now. "She" doesnt smoke or drink, but isn't bothered by either. Doesn't have pets but likes them. How very convenient. I bet those very general statements attract a response from a wide variety of people) I must confess that i am comfortable with the price and would like to secure the place down before my arrival so i want you tell me everything about the place and send me some pictures as well. I also want you to know that i have my car that i will be coming over with, and little of my furniture too Moreover,Let me also know how i can go about securing the place down before my arrival as i will also be busy from next week preparing to come over as i plan to arrive by the third week of August.I will also attach my picture in the next email. Feel free to ask me any more question via e-mail.My phone is bad for now but you can leave a message via voicemail on (+61) 321-779-3845 (how very convenient that her phone isn't working) Thanks, Martha. |

Phil, sounds like the same "fill in the blanks" messages I received got sent to you as well. I got very similar ones when I was looking for roommates for my recently bought house. Of course, mine was on Roommates.com. I actually got to the part where "she" wanted to "send" me some money... Red flags and klaxons went off everywhere once that was brought up. |

If in doubt, google the sender's name. Half of the suspicious looking emails I've received pulled search results leading to internet scam warning sites. (Message edited by pkforbes87 on July 30, 2009) |

Simple. If you don't know the sender, it IS SPAM. If you sign up anywhere online and use your email address without disguising it (you can email it to their "contacts" if in doubt) - then you deserve the spamming. Spam-bots are evil but avoiding them is easy. |

you should see if you can get her to send a picture of herself holding a sign that says "I have AIDS" to prove that she is a real person and is really interested in moving |
