Greetings all. I've searched the boards for my issue, but do not see any mention. Many have posted with grinding shifting into second. However, my problem is different. When riding my Blast it always grinds going into and out of fourth gear. I have no idea why this is. All fluids have been check and changed, primary has been adjusted, clutch has been adjusted, etc. However, it continues to grind going into fourth gear. Does anyone know why this is or have a similar issue that they've sold? Is it possibly a worn gear? Some background...bike is an '01 with 14,000 miles on it, cherry condition, never down. V&H exhaust, jetted, K&N air filter, air box mod done. Anyone have any thoughts? I do a lot of highway riding and it's worrisome. |

Could be worn dogs on that gear set. It'll keep getting worse and worse, but I would think the other gears would keep working. |

Unfortunately on the blast it means splitting the cases, and 14k miles is way early to have to be doing that on a blast. On the other hand, on one of my kawasaki dual sports, 14k miles would be a record You could pop the primary cover and remove the clutch / stator / primary chain as a unit, and see if the shift drum pin for 4th is bent or backed out, or if that little shifter pawl adjustment looks off. You can do both of those without case splitting. Or keep riding and avoid 4th |
