Does anyone know if the new front rotor showing on the buell website is an answer to the brake pulsing issue that seems to be a relatively common problem? Or is it just for "improves both feel and stopping power" as the website states?

the pulsing is usually attributed to brake compound build up on the rotors which is an easy fix...

From the picture it appears to not have cross drilled holes near each mounting point and has notches around the ID. I'm hoping it may be more durable as my pulsing issue is not from pad deposits... multiple sandings and lyndall gold pads didn't do anything to help. I've seen several posts that replacing the rotor with a new one has cured some similar issues so I may try this out and see if it gets me somewhere.

if it has gotten warped then yes pads would not fix it. im not sure how they get warped because i put a TON of heat through mine and havent had it yet.

also gummed up mounting hardware will cause a stutter in the brakes.

no idea how that new style rotor will work. i am debating on getting the race rotor one of these days for my 1125 though, to help me out even more at the track.

Your rotor sounds as bad as mine was...

Mine pulsed even after my lyndals

took the pads off and they where all gummed up looking.. lightly sanded them, put them back in and rebroke them in...

Been fine ever since...

It's 80 bucks more than the old one. I am kind of glad I got the old one last month to replace mine.

Else where I have posted that cleaning the rotor bolt area with Simple Green may help clear up some of the pulsing.

I also speculated that a better cleaning might be accomplished with a water pic to pulse the dirt out from behind the rotor hardware. In the middle of this thinking I replaced the tires and replaced the brake pads so the test was delayed. However the good thing is that some of the pulsing returned after my original cleaning.

Today I tried it. I sprayed Simple Green on the rotor bolts. Let set for about 1 minute and then cranked up the power on the water pic like a miniature pressure washer. I hit them from both sides twice.

The rotors were wet and may have had some Simple Green on them but in my short followup test ride the pulsing was gone.

I will be riding more tomorrow so will post if it turns out to be a false positive.

this is the best picture I have from the race at Barber. If you look really good on the edge there is a ring cut around to make it like a fin. This was on almost all the buell race bikes that no one wanted to talk details just told me they was testing it for heat issues. NOW I KNOW WHAT IT WAS ABOUT.

The water pic and Simple Green did help a little but is not a complete fix for the pulsing. Back to the drawing board.
