Though it isn't a huge deal, my "low fuel count" mileage and "low fuel light" are both freaking-out and coming on almost all the time. Sometimes the light will go out when I ride harder than usual, but the "reserve" mile count is completely unreliable. I've been keeping track of fueling the "old fashioned" way with the trip meter, because I'm thinking the fix for the light will probably be 'heavy'. Thoughts anyone?? |

Yes, there are many threads floating around about just this problem. The first thing to fix would be the wiring harness at the steering head. Open the wire bundle and you will see a couple of poorly located factory splices. The red wire one is the one that will cause your problem. I spliced a new red wire about a foot long from the area of the Left air scoop up to the area behind the fly screen. This was done to get the splices away from the area of steering flex. I did the same with the brown wires. They will cause the right turn signal to fail. Both of these wires have a heat shrink material filled with a wax like sealer. They will look fine from the outside, but cut the heat shrink away and you will find broken wires at the crimp joints. Next up will be to remove the fuel pump and sleeve the wires that wear through in there. Again there are new threads with pictures and instructions floating all around here. |

Woah! I forgot to ask if you are loosing the trip meters when it goes stupid. If not look to the sensor and or wires in the tank. |
