Hey all, new here. Test rode a Ully @ motorcycle show & really liked it. Kept one eye open for one ever since. Saw a very clean adult owned/ridden '06 for an attractive price. The bike had 45k miles. Who's got a higher millage Ully? Say 50k + miles. What kinds of maint./repairs have been required? How's your motor? Would you ride it to Alaska as it sits? Like the bike, just a little shy about putting all my eggs in an unknown basket Elseanno |

Thats a lot of miles! There are plenty on here with higher milage bikes but mine has 25K and has been to Alaska and riddin hard core. I probably would take mine to AK again but I do my own maint. The engines are rock solid but with that many miles I would worry about bearings, fuel pump, stator, that kind of stuff. |

Yabbut those 250K bikes are a bit like the woodsman bragging about the axe he inherited from his grandfather: Best danged axe EVER... third handle on it and the second axe head... but the best danged axe EVER! |

My '06 is right near 40,000 miles. I would not hesitate in riding it anywhere around the continent, if time and money would allow. I am planning a 1500 mile trip in a few weeks that will end up passing through the WV Buell Rally on my way home for a couple of days of camping and fun. If the bike had every nagging problem that has been listed on BadWeB, it would likely take a weekend and less than $1,000 to fix it all with a good plan and pre ordered parts. Most of the problems have been diagnostic PITA's. That part has been done for you on BadWeB. Look it over closely, find out what has been done, how well it was maintained. Few of the problems come back once fixed. |

I guess it depends on how attractive the price is. You can get 06 Ulys with a lot less than 40k miles pretty cheap. Look around on ebay for numbers. |

Original owner 06 with 64k miles. Replaced to date: Clutch cable Oil cooler Front engine mount Rear wheel bearings (once) Repaired fuel pump wiring Belt (precaution only- to have a spare) Still the best bike I've ever owned and by far the most versatile and fun. |

Well, my first '06 had 55K when it hit a deer and totaled itself. It had a few problems: clutch needle bearing, some others. Biggie was rear spark plug blowing out; Time-Sert repair, then on the first ride after it hit the deer. Bought another '06; have put 10K on it with no major problems. The exhaust valve actuator just broke (see my thread on that) but I replaced with the one from my first bike (I bought it back from State Farm). Yeah, the Uly is fun to ride if you put a bag over it. It ain't the prettiest thing out there...but I guess you can't see it when you're riding it. --Doc |

Last I heard the engine is all original and never opened. |

Dr. Greg-Beuaty is in the eye of the beholder. I also like the appearance of old tractors and steam thrashers. Love the section in the Smithsonian. I have not done as fine of a job as Ratbuel in England, but after my friends on fancy BMW's and harley electra-glides made so much fun of my Uly sounding like some sort of old world tractor, I attached a big plastic fly to the front beak of the "Ugly" Uly.If jag. can put some ugly old cat on its hood and MB put some sort of peace simble on their cars and BMW puts some weird rondell on their bikes, I think a fly is appropriate. |

Love the ULY's look and that is all that matters to this old biker dog. |

2 months ago I did over 22,500 km's around Australia in just over 10 weeks on my 06 Uly, it now has over 63,000 km's on the clock. I had not a single thing go wrong with the bike. Bloody awesome machine! |

Ric - good to see you on the board. My '06 Uly has just reached the 84,600km point and I think it looks just right. These are great bikes. They certainly aren't perfect bikes (when someone makes one I'd be interested to hear about it), but they have a much higher than average 'fun factor'. |
