This is just a bad add campaign in action, has to be, however, my question is - did Erik really sign off on this knowing it would piss off a good portion of his fans. I like my Blast, and even though it is no where close to the top of the line Buell, it has always been a good quintessential riding experience. A lot of other folks feel the same way. The why of this is definitely the question on everyone's mind. EZ |

I am thinking that I would really like to see an angry storm of Blasts show up at corporate headquarters, in a less than happy mood and burn copies of that magazine in the parkinglot. I would buy a Blast for that soul purpose. (yes I meant soul and not sole, though both fit well) |

Slicker, every day I think you are getting a step closer to pulling a Unabomber and moving into a shack in the middle of nowhere with no outside contact. What's with the future tense thing? Apparently you have not read Slicker's profile. |

I read Civil Disobedience by Thoreau when I was in the 5th grade, it stuck. Walden is one of my favorites, followed by Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I am pizzed that anyone would ever crush a motorcycle for 'art' or 'ad' or limited edition furniture. |

Trying very hard to see down the road and see the bright side..... This better mean that there is a replacement for the blast that will be comparable in price, easy to learn on and also fit the requirements and have the performance and support to be raced, like the Ninja 250. |

I can understand if you want to dump on the competition, but why dump on your own product. They barley advertise the Blast anymore, and they dont go out of their way to sell them at the dealerships.Does anyone remember the last time another motorcycle company craped on one of its own bikes?I wonder how much control Buell has over this ad. |

I am just very shocked and insulted by the ad, and I must say I'm a little hurt. I just can't make sense of it, the thing that really slapped me in the face was this: "we've turned a limited number of Blasts into colorful metal cubes, each numbered and signed by Erik Buell himself" WTF... It wouldn't surprise me is Buell dropped the Blast and only produced them for the Rider's Edge program. No offense to Blast lovers but the bike really doesn't live up to the design and engineering of the rest of the line-up. They would have to do a complete revamp of the bike to bring it to that level and probably decided that wouldn't make too much sense financially. Still, the ad is strange but is probably just designed to get people's attention for the 2010 line-up, if it is in fact real. |

I'm still hoping that this is a bad joke until I see it in person... my copy of Cycle World should be arriving before to long. Buell still has this up on their website: "The Buell® Blast is a machine that represents everything there is to love about sport riding. It’s lightweight, perfectly balanced and thanks to Buell Intuitive Design and Engineering,™ it’s also a very capable corner-carver." |

Think about every 500 cc single ever made and stack them against the Blast. Who would come out on top? |

I would much rather they simple let it die off in peace and let the Riders Edge programs use Hondas and Suzukis and Kawasakis and Yamahas. I guess I feel personally insulted because I would never have considered a Buell before buying the Blast (a desperation purchase). Afterward, I wasn't considering anything else. Now,and I'm sure this a knee-jerk reaction on my part to what seems like an insult to my intelligence and riding ability, I'm considering everything else. |

I understand , not agree, if they want to get rid of the Blast. But why would you tell people you've been selling a P.O.S. for the last 10 years? It makes you question the company as a whole. How ethical is it if they've been peddling something they think is only suitable for the trash compactor? The other question is what kind of bike is an XBS? I never thought of it as a sport/racing bike. If I wanted that I would have got an R6. The R6 is a bad ass sport/race bike. It will smoke my XB on the track. My XB (so I thought) Is a super bad ass street fighter. It will smoke nearly anything on the streets and twisties (with a better rider than me...). Then there's the Uly, no sport/race bike there. Seems they sell alot of them. If I was looking for a new bike would I want to buy a Uly from a company that doesn't want to sell or make it as it's not a sport/race bike, me thinks not. It'll be next years ottoman. end rant for now... |

Well...either the ad is bogus (but why?) or it is real...either the blast is at it's end (in which case, the ones left will become collector items one day) and that is that...no more "little" Buells...or the blast is dead, long live the blast..and it will be replaced with the NEW small bike...Blast-X?, Kaboomer?, Mini-Wheeee!!!? Winged Thing? Holy fabrication Batman...is the blast dead?? did the Joker make that ad? Has Erik snorted too many exhaust fumes?? Does this mean Fast will end up spending 2 years at his fabrication bench living off raman noodles and polishing alloy?? All will be made clear. P.S. Does anyone have a 670 Rotax motor collecting dust, unloved and unwanted?? (Message edited by fast1075 on July 23, 2009) |

The Blast hasnt been in the company brochure since 2007 It's in my 2008 brochure, although there's no details on it - just a picture showing that it's in the lineup. |

I am weirded out by this ad. I can not believe Erik had anything to do with this, I mean every thing i have ever seen that included him and the blast made me believe he liked the little bike. I thought Erik Buell was one of the it doesn't matter what you ride as long as you do ride type of guys. That has always been my perception of him anyway. I really hope that this is just some kind of a joke. I have never personally ridden a blast though I have always wanted to, in fact I am planning on buying my wife a nice little used one when i get back from Afghanistan. One because she wants to learn and i believe it is a good starter bike, two she wants a Buell because she knows just how much I love the brand and three it is the right height for her. |

How long before we see an ad with the Cr at the bottom of the ocean with an anchor tied to it. "This Lobster now swims with the fishes". |

"Buell--Ruthless Engineering." From the ad. Must be an attempted joke. I still like the Borg theory:

Is it just me, or is that an inordinately large cube of crap to come from such a small bike? Looks like they cubed up an old F100 in blue. |
