There is no 1125RR listed with the 2010 models on Buell.com, and that is going to prove to be very problematic for those of us on the front lines defending Buell Racing against most of the rest of the world. |

Oh boy, what are your buddies on the Aprillia board going to say? I *think* we have exhausted this subject. Who the hell would have though and extra "R" would cramp so many idiots' brain. |

I hope buell had plans for a bike t replace the blast. The blast was a great starter bike and very reliable, exellent for people with very little knowledge of fixing a bike. not to mention the 62-69 mpg. Maybe an Electric powered Buell |

Something just doesn't feel right... De-evolution of the logo that seems crude and unbalanced, an ad glorifying the destruction of a previously supported model, an incomplete full-fairing option, odd pod graphics, tag lines including "ruthless", "won't make you any friends", "No one will understand why you've done what you've done", (your friends)"...may even be disturbed by it", and "...without mercy"- all of which seem to be targeting sociopaths, immature teens with more testosterone than brains, or males with a viagra and energy drink addictions, combined with a superficial, ad agency contrived unconvincing and dubious "we don't care what you think"- really leaves me wondering what the hell are they thinking! With a large portion of the motorcycling world expressing real venom and hatred (not all unwarranted), new styling that has not shown well in either the US or Europe, and now an "F 'em all" marketing campaign, it really leaves one wondering just what market segment Buell is trying to capture- and exactly why would they do something so incongruous. I'm really at a loss here. |

Redbuelljunkie, I think that is the best post I've read so far about the Buell 2010 dealer show. I'm still in shock about what took place myself! The only word I've seen to describe it is "FAIL" |

Wow. I have to say that I agree with your view on this Redbuelljunkie. This isn't indie music that we are talking about, these are motorcycles. They have to appeal to a much larger audience then they currently are. |

Guess y'all missed the QUEENSRYCHE-BUELL Tour.... I had trouble understanding that until I went to a concert. Still confused; but enjoyed myself. |

I'd imagine most of us on the BadWeB missed the show. So, what did going to that concert have to do with gaining a moment of clarity on the 2010 models? |

Wasn't A Show; was a Tour with BUELL as a Sponsor. Bike Rides and whole mess of cross reference STUFF. Couple or 3 yrs. ago. I won some passes to a gig, interesting, but could not figure tie-in to BUELL. Talked with some of Band members after Concert and they are friends with EB. Mr. B has a Band, ANYONE out there aware? Glad I'm going on another vacation. Since my BLAST was procured slightly crunched, I am looking forward to 10's..... |

"we don't care what you think" If we cared what people thought, would anyone buy a Buell? Someone here put it pretty succinctly--With other brands of bikes you buy the bike to conform to the norm, often because that's what your friends are doing--aka a social reason. With a Buell you buy the bike because of the bike first and foremost (function first) and you find friends AFTER you take the plunge. So in alot of respects, being Buell is often "us against the world" in alot of ways. Very possibly that's why Buellers are such a tight knit group. |

No, I think this is treading into the bizarre. With the above logic, the only reason to buy a Buell is because you are anti-social, have no friends, and don't care what anyone thinks. That whole line of reasoning is pitiful. Additionally, the belief that all other brands are purchased only to conform to some "norm" is ridiculous. Aren't potential Buell buyers being asked to "conform" with all the other "non-conformists" and buy a Buell? It's just a giant stinking pile of marketing BS. I have been experiencing the Buell "stigma" since my "97 S1, so I am very familiar with what it's like out there. One thing I have always been proud of is Buell's corporate image- they're good people. Buell's reliability (mainly due to the H-D connection) has always been a challenge, but the level of respect for Erik Buell, his company, and what he was trying to accomplish has always been high. The 2010 marketing campaign runs counter to this positive image, and I believe can even be considered damaging. It just does not make sense. Splintering from society, adopting a paranoid mindset, retreating into factions proclaiming "us against the world" may work for cults, sects, and extremists- but it is definitely not a reasonable or prudent philosophy for a company looking to increase market share and international acceptance. I am amazingly disappointed with the baffling decisions being made at Buell recently- I'm starting to feel like a stranger in my own land. |

Dang! I think we may be taking things a bit too seriously. It is a new ad campaign. Ok, Ok, You guys will all get mad at me, but Redbuelljunkie is right. It is true. I'm telling the world! All of us Buell guys do live in a commune....but it is not because we are....as you say..."anti-social, have no friends, and don't care what anybody thinks." No, that isn't true....it's because we have such a huge parking lot that we can all park there! That was fun! So we have a new add campaign. Maybe Erik was forced to make the Blast when he wanted to make sport bikes. I don't know. But maybe we shouldn't get too emotional here....don't want to look like we read supersquidplanet do we? Oh yes, and what is wrong with Buell reliability anyway? Mine run like scalded dogs. |

I like the ad campaign. To me it says "Buy a Buell because you want the ultimate sport bike, from the company that ONLY makes ultimate sport bikes (except for that pesky Ulysses thing) NOT because your buddy, his buddy and all of your neighbors have I4s made by companies that make generators, lawn mower motors and pianos. ac |

With the above logic, the only reason to buy a Buell is because you are anti-social, have no friends, and don't care what anyone thinks. The last part of your statement is true. I will clarify my statement above. When I say Buell riders make friends after the purchase, I mean Buell riding friends, not friends in general. I knew 0 Buell riders when I bought my XB. After the purchase I met many Buell owners, both locally and on Badweb. I loved the trilogy of tech and the fact that you don't see a Buell on ever corner. My riding buddys that owed the lastest crop Japanese finest questioned my choice. I guarantee you if you asked your normal Japanese bike owner how much influence his/her friends had on the purchase, it would be high (if they are honest.) Nothing wrong with that as we tend to do as our friends do in lots of cases--it definitely says more about Buell owners mentality. |

Yeah Fresno! And to all the Blast owners, don't take it personally. You love your Blast? Great! I lover my tuber too! The great thing about Buell is that it keeps moving on! You could take a newer engine and stick it in my tuber, but in the end I'd just look like a Duke Ha ha! Notice I didn't call it a Dukee! By the way, I LOVE Duk in MotoGP! Anyway, hey Zac! Loretta is in the Shiny Beast's parking spot at the Buell commune! Move it! Ha ha! Let's hope Buell sales are through the overhead! Looking at the recent Harley earnings report, they sure seem to be! |

Fresno, The more I think about why this bothers me, the more clear it becomes. I have taken a lot of shite for many years just by being a Buell owner. I have spent a lot of time, energy, and emotion defending the bikes, the company, and the genius behind it all. During all of this, I have known that Buell- everything Buell (EB, BMC, owners, enthusiasts... everyone) had my back. All of the fire was incoming- which direction to defend was never a question. Now, there has been a volley of friendly fire. I never imagined I would have to doubt the doctrine of my own ranks. I sincerely hope this is really just a very bad decision made by a marketing department, because it does not jibe with anything I have ever heard or read about the character of Erik Buell. Yes, this silly BOB thing does make a difference, it's about ownership- I take ownership in everything I am passionate about. I have always been a proud Buell owner, and consider myself a good example for Buell. Now, however, I see Buell acting in ways that are a bad refection on me- and I have earned the right to feel reproached and disillusioned. This marketing campaign is doing a disservice to the principles and philosophy of Buell motorcycles... and keepers of the faith. |

It's a bike, not a religion. I'm a rider/owner, not an evangelist. I wear their branded clothing, not because I'm a sheep but because Buell's branded clothing is actually less expensive than comparables. It's like being sponsored and I appreciate that. Buell/local dealer gave me a VIP pass to a three day national race event. I appreciate that and respect that. I owe something for that. However, I'm paying for the bike, the service, the maintenance, etc. It's a business relationship, not a romantic/spiritual one. Coincidentally, I really enjoy the bike and the design and promotion works for me. |

I can relate to many things in your last post, RBJ. However, I don't agree about "friendly fire." BOB is edgy without a doubt, but that's as far as I will go. People like to quote "offensive things" from BOB out of context, either not reading or ignoring the rest. Well, I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Time will tell if this BOB will have any effect. One thing to remember is that Buell is still Buell. To me, if people are offended at this, then I question how much they REALLY were into Buell. |

Hey RBJ. Most eloquent. I find out where folks go for vacation and I go the opposite direction. The ominous THEY, buy rice burners. I look for a V lump. They rev high, I rev low. They are all friends going to buy their bikes. Yep, I have no bike friends until I buy the Buell. I am a good bit anti social (I don't like any body that will not take responsibility for their own misfortune). You are a good example for Buell, and, so am I. I fell good about the crushed Blast just as much as I really liked it. Everything I have done well in life is left behind, as if yesterday's trash. Start again with a blank page. Hero today, bum tomorrow. As a designer, what is new is immediately old. You are reproached and disillusioned because of your personal investment in a previous marketing plan. It IS marketing. It is not your home, blood family or religion. The current plan IS the principled philosophy and germ of Erik Buell. your mettle is the test, not the Buell campaign. So far, I like it, a bit sophomoric but well gnarled. |

Now, there has been a volley of friendly fire. The friendly fire is not just from BMC, but the ranks in Badweb (and I'll assume other 'forums' too), if you hadnt noticed. One things for sure (as previously hinted), we are all different. |
