Anyone do much riding with a 2nd person on board? I'm looking to buy this week, but have to admit part of my justification to the wife was being able to run kids here and there and park the van. Also the occasional tour around the area with the wife on back. I realize the bike isn't ideal for touring with 2, but really only planning short trips with 2. Took an 1125R for a test ride a few weeks back and it seemed real touchy on the throttle at slower speeds, kind of jerky when you hit bumps and so forth, but I loved it anyway. Looking at a BMW F800S also, but seems almost to sedate in comparison. Cracking open the throttle on the 1125 and letting it fly could become an addiction. I've seen prices around here at $7999 all in on '08's, and missed a sale this weekend where a dealer had '08's for $7770 all in('cept taxes and title of course). Looking forward any input on the two up question and coming back as an owner! |

I've ridden two-up with my wife a few times. We did a 150-mile thing in the twisties in Arkansas a few weeks back. We had a good time on the short little ride, but I don't think the 1125r, or really honestly just about any sportbike, should ship with passenger pegs. The 1125r is too compact to be 2-up comfortable for much longer. Your partner would also need to be rather lightweight or you won't be able to set the bike up to handle both 1-up and 2-up situations. When riding, the excercise becomes one of only using countersteering, so that's different, too. And, your partner really, really has to trust you. Only another motorcyclist can appreciate smashing into turns at the speeds we do, and the passenger has to ride *interactively* -- not looking around at the scenery, leaning correctly, getting their head over your inside shoulder, bracing against the airbox, etc. Frankly, by the time you find a passenger that really understands what do to, they could probably pilot their own bike, and 2 one-ups is a helluva lot more fun than one 2-up. Frankly... 2-up sucks. It ruins most of what's great about motorcycling. Wears out tires really fast, too. |

I ride two up with my wife. She actually preferred it over the FZ1. But I have never allowed my kids to ride on the back of the 1125R. I am too paranoid about the m not holding on properly. |

So you missed Hals sale A10? At $7700, If I hadn't already purchased 3 bikes from Hals in the past 3 years, I'd probably have purchased one last weekend. And the two up thing? It matters how light your passenger is. Also, I'd be paranoid on an 1125R with kids under the age of 10. There just isn't enough to hold on to... |

Define what you call light guys. Lol cuz a light girl I give a ride to is about 105 and heavy is 130ish me only weighing about 145ish oh and out of the few girls iv given rides to. All have said they slide forward. A touring seat for them would help alot |

Thanks for the input. Wife is 120 lbs, the 2 oldest are most likely the problem coming in at 175 and 200 lbs. Mostly runs to football and baseball practices, but maybe that is too much. I come in at 175. I figured I'd probably want to wait a couple years for the 9 year old, he's to easily distracted, which would mean I'd be to distracted. The lack of something to grab onto worries me also. I was all ready looking around to see if I might be able to put grab rails on it. Dang you guys are killing my excuses! Yea, I didn't see the Hal's ad until Saturday, and as much as I tried to get other things done I had no option on, I didn't get finished until too late to get out there. I've talked to a guy at Hal's and I get the impression they are more of a Buell place than Suburban which I live closest too. I may make the trip out there and see what they can do. I really have the bug for the 1125R despite the obvious problems I'll have justifying one. |

The justification for an 1125r is the massive S.E.G. it leaves on your face. |

Cripes, steve I think you need to share? I just looked at your profile with 4 bikes you need someone else to help you ride them. I volunteer! I'll keep them polished, change oil, and fueled. |

A10, Did you talk with Al, or Ryan? I'd concur that Hals *IS* the Buell place in the Milwaukee area. Their lead Buell tech is the current points leader in ASRA Thunderbike, Al, Ryan, and Bud all do track days. Bud even has his CCS amateur race license. And if you don't believe me, ask ANYONE who has attended the Buell homecoming rallies the past years if Hals is the "Buell place". But I am a TAD bit biased... I'm the current director of a Hals sponsored "Buell Owner's group". And about the 4 bikes, we're only down to two currently. We WERE up to 6 of 'em at one time And yes, I am an admitted "Buell Addict" http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/85541.html We've Sold all the ones in those pics, and have had 3 since then |

I talked to Ryan at Hal's. I think I need more of the free will and just buy like you have. Love the addict thread. Since I'm not getting any work done today anyway, I should just pack up and head over there. |

I do about a 1/3 of my riding 2-up with the wife and have no problems even with 250 miles a day. She has got fat and weighs 50 pounds more than me and I can still handle the bike easy around corners etc. Just have to roll on the throttle easy because the front tire doesn't get near as many miles on it as the rear. |

thoughts on two up... well i like having boobies squished against my back... um i like the fact that the already easy to wheelie buells are extremely easy to wheelie with a passenger... |

The Buell Pillion seat and Buell Touring seat with the Uly footpegs (Silver are cheaper) would be great for both of you. The Buell seats are worth the small price for Butt-Bliss. The extra width of the Uly pegs keeps them from digging into your feet. No_Rice +2 on the BBies in the back! TIme2Ride Neil S. |

For 2-up, I'd ride the XB12X, nothing else really works. |

Heh, me and my girl ride 2 up occasionally. I weigh in at 195 and her at (best guess) 165 (shes thick in all the right places ). We can manage about 100 miles before we need a good break. Even with her rear she slides forward an d has to breace against the tank, then again, I'm heavy on the brakes. Likes others have said, careful with the acceleration. Ive almost tossed her off more than once when I got on it and shes spacing out for some reason. Not after whipping back thought, lol. You can pretty easily roll on the throttle with 2 up IMHO. Just have to fan the clutch a bit. |

My girlfriend and I will occasionally use the 1125R to run to the movies or to dinner... but for serious trips, the 1125R stays in the garage and I take out the K1200LT to play. Gotta match the right tool to the job, ya know. (Message edited by Jaimec on July 22, 2009) |

My 2-up ride of choice is the ST1300. I spoiled my Wife with the ST1300. She rode on the 1125rt once, from the host hotel to the factory and never complained (until we got back to the hotel ;+} ). |
