I had tossed the idea around and seriously wrote up some design possibilities... it's just to much money. Good luck! |

I guess you would have to reduce the compression for that? |

nate- yeah that's what i am thinking that or very little boost which brings us round full circle. geforce- can you shed some light on the cost estimates you came up with? |

One of the mechanics at Gainesville H-D/Buell has built a turbo powered XB. Last I knew it was running good. |

Just need to be able to fuel it when boost is on, so boost referenced fuel pressure regulator and a piggyback fuel controller. Using a Tuneboy to fuel the turboed GSXR we run at Bonneville. Or full on standalone ecm,I am using a Motec on the Bonneville turbo Buell, but pricey. When selecting a turbo,be sure you get a ball bearing type as the plain bearing ones need more oil pressure than a Buell puts out. Best bet was the Aerocharger set-up as it had its own oil system and was variable vane so no wastegate was needed. Went out of biz though. Someone was supposed to pick up where they left off but have not heard anything. |

There is also the garret gt line of ball bearing turbos. Something roughly like the "Disco Potato" turbo, GT-28. Not a VNT, but it is big enough that the wastegate will probably not be that big of an issue. This is also the turbo my friend has on his 'Busa. That and a tube and fin intercooler from a 2nd gen RX-7. You can make more power from boost than compression, so yes, take the engine down to 7.8:1 or 8:1 I would not do too much more compression than that. Of course, I am a car tuner, and new to the motorcycle world... I may need help translating from 4 wheels to 2. |

http://www.aerocharger.com/index.php Back in business in Kansas City, improved the turbos, do not sell complete kits, except for a few on the website. They work with an outfit down the street for design and installation on particular bikes. Trask Performance makes a kit. http://www.turboyourharley.com/turboKits.asp There is an argument between blow through and suck through units on several issues. My Aerocharged Buell had 19K miles on the odo. Worked fine, lasted a long time. 8.5:1 compression. Hillbilly Mtrs has a kit, too. (Message edited by moxnix on July 29, 2009) |

My cost estimates wouldn't apply to the average user. I have a MIG/TIG welder and shop in my basement and I would have fabricated the majority of the goods. (Brackets, Exhaust, Etc) You'd expect that if I had these resources I would actually build my own exhaust and whatnot to...I have to little time and I'm always busy in the Army. I'll look around the basement work bench for the paper I had drawn up on it when I get back home this weekend. |

BB turbo can be had for about 300,wastegate and blow-off valve for about 100 each, tubing and such easily gotten on eBay. Just remember, about 10psi will double hp--cannot do that with any big-bore kit--again,witha Buell the challenge is to fuel it on boost. But it can be done. |
