I have a 2003 XB9R with K&N Filter and Jardine Exhaust. Can I make ECM improvements with ECMSpy without being on a dyno? |

Yes. Use the Megalogging feature to guide your tuning. |

Thanx. I'm still waiting on a cable, so I haven't had a chance to play yet. Is it worth it to pay the $50 (approx) for the USB cable? Or how else do you make the connector work (MSD 8181)? Do you convert that to a USB connector? |

it's worth it to just buy the USB cable out of the box. American sportbike has them. Worked perfectly. |

Pretty sure you will find the ECMspy site is now closed,Gunter has shut it down due to people using it for commercial purposes, and Mike has stopped as well,so ECMspy is officially dead, you can't download from the site if you don't have it. Phil Correct me if I'm wrong please |

You are correct in saying you can't download it from the site. |

I have an 2009 XB9SX. Just ordered the cable. I have the ECMspy software if you need it. I asked xaptiinside about using ECMspy with an 09 and here was his response: you will need spreed sheets to get the fuel value locations from dave at Ohio sportbike.com though. this allows the locations to upload the values to the ecm. the only way to do the 2009 xb12 bikes and the 1125 bikes at this time. used with ecmspy. Hope that helps. -- William (Message edited by williamscottrobertson on July 19, 2009) |

As far as ecmspy goes its done. bvut if you have had a pc issue and need a replacement file. gunter will supply that for those who go directly to him. email him direct for the file. remember he is across the ocean so give him time to be awake to get the email. that was a big issue when we was all working on things together six of us was in different continents. so things was sometimes delayed then other times one was done and the next picked up. any way its closed. on ecmspy.com but gunter will give the program to people as a replacement if needed. you have to go direct to him and ask nicely. with your story on the issue you have. as for the 08 and up it will read the eeproms. you do all the changes in the eeprom file as burn changes only. then it overrides the firmware section applying the changes. thats how i did the timing way before it was in the ecmspy as well as all the other map files. and other file i do not seen in ecmspy. mike |
