I rode 671 miles on the Uly From Kinston N.C. To Tampa Fla.Via a change in route due to car accidents.I made it still in about 10.5 hrs even with the change in route 2x's. The ride was nice but I95 either way is boring.Got to south GA. and north Florida took some two lane roads south to I 75 south and had some fun. L8er Webe |

Had fun! It was great to shake everyone's hand. Amanda did well. This was a shakedown cruise for our trip out west.
Not bad for a day's ride. |

Good ride and good peeps yesterday, thx all. Nance, sorry 'bout dogging you so hard after lunch, just couldn't get around you clean and safe like I like. One of these days I'm gonna hafta get a sportbike... Burke's Garden was gorgeous, but seemed a tad tame without the soggy switchbacks and glacier crossings of last time... Kristi & Carlos and Twig partied with us here at the 'Dome late into the night (after stashing the bikes at the cabin and grabbing the cage), BBQ and campfire at full boil, Greg Brown on the Bose. We smoked plenty of brain cells ceegars and dogs, and had copious doses of chewy brew to knock down the flames. Yesterday. Didn't. Suck. FB |

Yep, it was a very good day yesterday. To all that could not make it, you missed a great ride. Good seeing everyone again. FB&D, we really enjoyed the get-together last night. Those Beck's really hit the spot. We saw at least ten deer on the way back. I actually felt pretty decent this morning, and headed on back. Bike ran perfect this morning. Take care, hope to see you soon. |

Saturday was EXCELLENT! Got to see good friends, a great day of riding, great temps for July (who knew it would be 64 degrees in July), dinner and beers at Ridge Dome was the perfect end of a great day. I left the mountain around 11:30 this morning. Took advantage of having no children with me and did some clothes shopping for me. By time I picked the children up and unloaded the truck it was 9 p.m. I'm tired now! |

Back from a couple a thousand mile tour on the GSA that ended at Carolina Motorsports Park for a weekend of road racing with WERA. The racing was really exciting and successful. Raced four races and got to the podium in each. Lots of on track battles. The tour was fantastic. Looks like ya'll are having a great time as well. Long live Summertime!!! Be Well All. Mike. |

Did you all do the dirt part? Jim, we entered and exited Burke's Garden via the west, i.e., paved side - we were trying to keep the abuse to Carlos' wounded rear tire to a minimum. |

Another Mountain Grass adventure is in the books and now Home Sweet Home, though a little hot. I am spoiled by four days of only a few hours peaking north of 70°f per day. Who would have thunk in July. I return home to high 80°F temps and an air conditioner that is not working. Unfortunately it is not froze up again, which means something else is wrong. On goes the ceiling fan and a call to the A/C guy. Saturday had to be one of the best days of riding to date. You could not have asked for better weather, better riding partners, and better roads. We started the day at Lake View Restaurant in Fancy Gap with ten of us, then headed out for a day of mountain riding. In the 250 miles we rode, we covered some of the best roads Virginia had to offer. We ended the day parking the bikes back at the creek and caging it to FB&D's for camp fire (needed it), BBQ dogs, cigars and a fine choice of beer. We partied on until mid-night. Sunday was a little more laid back. I had a few chores I had to do and I wanted to catch the first live AMA race of the season. It was a treat to watch Slick dominate again. At about 5pm I finished my chores and after some debate pulled the cover off the Uly and took off for a ride around the block. I decided that Ferris sucks. What a block he lives on! I rode for a total of 1 hour and 50 minutes, of that maybe 15 minutes was the bike fully vertical. I climbed down off the mountain to turn on to the next road and climbed right back up. I took one of our favorite plateau roads which ended up being quite a thrill when I hit a tar strip will braking hard into a corner. I have to admit that was the first time I backed a bike into the corner. After the pucker factor, it was quite fun. To top off the ride, it was in the sixties and the roads were just about abandoned. Yeah, it sucked. Today started out with the sound of Buells in the distance at 5am. Those sounds changed from Buells to Thunder. Soon lights flashing, cracking thunder and down pours. I believe the mountain was crying because it knew I was leaving. After a two hours rain (Lightning) delay, I managed to close up shop at the creek and headed for breakfast at FB&D's. Denise fixed a mean breakfast and again I got to enjoy their company before climbing down off the mountain. I finally suited up, and headed for home. It did not stop raining until I was almost to Winston Salem. Once there though the clouds stayed but it never amounted to much in the way of rain. Ferris even though you were afraid of melting, I did find Mexican time tonight with the family. I toasted the fine weekend with dos, Dos Equis. I am ready to do it again. |
