There is in fact, a third path.

Here is my interpretation of the Cafe Racer with vintage adjustable Tomaselli Italian clubmans bars, on a custom riser that moves the bars up and back. A bit more complicated than your very nice install. But perhaps more appropriate for the senior streetfighter.

looks great thought about going with those but might be to wild for me as i dont like getting on my buddies firebolt for too long and have been told those are almost lower than the clip ons, been thinking about doing the same thing with the other cr bars which are a little lower and straighter than the stock lightnings i think, plus all the holes should be there if im not mistaken?

Regarding the riding position. I think it would be great for track days, but commuting around town I think I prefer the more upright position. I really wish there was a way to be inbetween the two positions.

I think I'm going to switch back to the old bar I had and toss this setup in the classifieds.

It appears as this would put you close to the firebolt riding position. Perhaps a lil less aggressive since the firebolt seat is higher.

I've put about 100 miles on the bike with the clubman and am used to it now.

I am not a big track rider but I do spend almost all of my time and focus in riding (its why I ride) in the twisties so I am thinking it might be fun.

Just stopped by my Buell dealer to sit on their CR for a bit and I liked it. Very aggressive but fit my hands well, the angles were actually even better then the 1125R's clip ons.

What do you want for just the bar? Ill take it from you if you have a competitive price shipped. I can get a brand new one locally for $70's.

I am sure Ill be sacrificing some comfort but like I said, I spend most of my time in the twisties. I do run errands but its only usually 30-45 min trips, or longer rides but those are always to GET to other twisty roads.

Enough talk about twisties : p, now I am going out to ride (again, just got back).

Any info you have on the cable routing etc... would be MUCH appreciated as I think I might be doing this mod next week while I do my 5000 mile service, since Ill be playing with cable adjustments anyways.

What about the 2" risers that Al sells at American Sport Bike? They can be rotated forward and back. It might make a better position possible.

EDIT: Wait, never mind. They're for 7/8 bars. They'd work with BikeMaster Clubmans but not the CR Clubmans.

I cant wait any longer : p. I am just going to go pick them up tomorrow and install them so I can see how they work this weekend (doing a lot of riding) and then adjust everything extra well next week when I service the bike.

Still would appreciate more info on routing of cables!

Installing as we speak.

So far have bars on, brake lever on, working on clutch cable routing and then should be set pretty soon.

Look great on the bike and the feel is sweeeettttt!

How'd you get the throttle cables routed?

Seem to long and I cant seem to get them in front of the fork adjusters, I'd hate to have to take more then the fly screen off.

Back to the garage to mess around some more!

Oxygen... Help me figure out how to route the throttle cable and Ill think about it ; ).

Clutch seems like I know what I can do, go in normal hole but then instead of going left, go in (same spot throttle cables come out) of the HUD box (what the flyscreen covers, not sure what its called) and out a drilled hole as the OP did...

Throttle cables however are giving me MUCH more trouble.

How did you do it?

But yes, if I ride this setup for a few hundred miles and love it (which I believe I will) then Ill sell the pro tapers... The PE bar adapters are needed for the CR setup as well, cant part with those.

By the way, the pro tapers are much easier to make work then these clubmans appear to be : p.

Clutch is JUST barely to short, but if you look down near the clutch case you can tighten up that portion (there is a mount, loosen and pull through some cable) and get the remaining inch or so you need.

For the brake I just rotated the banjo bolt on the MC about 45 degree's which was plenty of slack.

Throttle cables were pulled tight but fit.

By the way... sorry for threadjacking. OP if you would prefer I make my own thread, just let me know.

Got the throttle cables to "fit", using the OP's method of twisting the control way forward. Looks odd but who cares, its not like I use the kill switch during riding and I can get used to reaching a little further to get to it.

One of the two throttle cables has a sort of strange bend but when you see the bend's they had inside the flyscreen from the factory I'm not TO worried. I will have a Buell tech look at it though (dealer wants to see how the bars turn out).

At first the throttle wouldnt return, I did some adjustments and now it snaps back just fine.

Clutch cable I know what I want to do with it, I just cant get it to fit!

Trying to do the same setup as the OP...

I cant manage to get it to go from the hole into the forward flyscreen section, its a tight bend.

Also bar end mirrors are a bit of a concern, no bar sticking out for me to put one and the inside is a stepped inside diameter, I will see if maybe the smaller ID is close enough to the end to just have the bar end mirror mounted on that...

Just sitting on the bike on the kickstand and playing around with body positioning for a left turn I can tell I am going to love these things!

Everything is installed!

I have a buddy over and plans so cant do a long ride but going to go for a 10 minute spin just to get an idea of how they work...

Will probably check everything over (tightness, cables, etc...) tomorrow morning then I have two long rides planned for the weekend.

They look great, only negative...

The hole for the clutch cable I made is pretty monstrous. I guessed wrong and ended up with 3 1/2" jagged holes (all touching so really its like one big 1"+ hole). Most of it is covered by the flyscreen and its all under the clutch cable, barely noticable even if you were checking out the bars, pretty bummed about that but whatever, life goes on...

Perhaps I can find some sort of rubber grommet to put the cable in that will fill in the hole and protect the cable at the same time...

Just did a ride around the area on a local backroad loop I like to do...

Hmm...

Comfort is not amazing but it was the first 10 miles...

Doesnt feel like it snaps into turns as fast (to be expected)...

Going to try and get it out to the faster twisties tomorrow morning before work and see how I like them...

Definetly different then the pro tapers!

Still liking mine... Done a few long rides, many on SUPER technical roads and no problems. Definetly different (less leverage) but I like it and as I work on my more aggressive body positioning it is getting better and better then the wide pro tapers.

Discovered something though, this bike stoppies! Never have I lifted the rear wheel until I got these bars and did a couple of fast stops. Probably bad technique (need to squeeze tank more when braking to keep weight off wrists) but none-the-less.
