So about 2 or 3 weeks ago, Blast acted like it was out of gas, so coasted down hill to gas station, refilled it, it ran only at idle for like 5 or 10 minutes, then came out of it. And has ran perfect since. Oh yeah had jug resealed under warranty this spring, and first time I rode it I tipped it and had heck of a time restarting as it died as it tipped(though tip sensor,,,,but now wonder if current problem wasnt to blame). Well checked miles and it was at 115, and I am 10 miles from town, oh well, still off reserve I thought, well got about half way to town, and of course hit 120 mile wall, switch to reserve, and its dead. So thought about it, pulled hose(removing clamp with pocket knife)turn selector to reserve, aha, cloudy fuel. So called friend in town " hey bring me a gallon of gas and bottle of Heet" so in that goes and run battery down trying to keep it running. So I figured out stupid seat unlatching issue(always been a bitch to get off, thats another fix),pulled battery, came home andcharged it, went back,,,,still no start and run, now its cool and smells like flooding little ,well dont wanna trash new plug. OK get home from work, with tools(I am a mechanic)and remove air cleaner and float bowl, aha,,,, cloudy fuel, hmmmmmmm. OK new plan, remove tank and dump, replace with new fuel, also added a couple ounces of Sea Foam to dry any extra water in tank out. TADA 1 to 1.5 hrs later, dray tank, new fuel, with Sea Foam, and bike is running again as good as ever. Gonna replace gas cap oring monday but gonna look into a better way to protect the cap area. Not sure if that stuff is leaking or neighbor put water in it. LAst month we ha d lots of rain, but tarp I used to keep over it is in use elsewhere, so need new tarp.cover, been saving for bike cover but little short yet, and still need to order new belt and rear tire too. Well thought I would share. What a mix of standard and metric stuff on these bikes! |

Love that HEET! I've used it successfully lots of times. I used to ride in all kinds of weather. Blast spent the first few years of its life parked in the weather, so I had to learn about HEET early. Now it gets to live in a nice comfortable garage, so I haven't had any issues with it, except that it seems my hose clamp works its way loose every few thousand miles on the boot. Sounds like your fuel was too far gone to recover. Did you use the whole bottle when you did it? |

Ah it was better to get rid of all that,, put in new stuff AND used a product called Sea Foam, now that stuff works good and the penetrating oil is almost as good as Kroil or Cyclo Break Away. |
