i am buying,i think, a 1125r but first i need to assure that all the comfort options are available as otherwise this would be a no win situation as i ride for 2 weeks at a time all over . and on day trips i usually go 10 hours or so. so, one )---bar risers -----i have seen some on the net but they attach in the lower section of the tubes . does anyone make a replacement clip on with a rear pitch and higher placement . i have read that this is a one piece unit but in fact it is not . the clip on can be removed with an allen wrench. two )--lower footpegs --- i have read about the xb footpeg replacement . is this in fact a unit that will lower the peg by 1 inch ??? and how would it affect the brake / shifter placement . is there also a complete lowering assembly unit ? thank you ffb | ||

If you are used to other sportbikes, give the stock bars a college try. They are wide and relatively high. I find them enormously comfortable. The stock seat actually ain't bad. It's flat and wide. I have the touring seat on my "street" 1125r, and like it. It's thicker, and as a result effectively "lowers" the pegs when you install it, as well. | ||

Teach, it seems logical that Buell will have a sports/tourer in the progression: 1st year: the sport bike 2nd year: the naked bike 3rd year: the sport/touring bike? Let's see what happens....... Dave | ||

Teach: What seat is that and how much are they running? And whats your opinion on it? Ive thought about maybe getting a new seat but im not sure. I like the ride height but could use a little more padding. | ||

thank you all.. actually i had read all of the posts that you linked me to neil. and yes , nice but a headache to some degree. my problem is that i do not like the convertabars. i do not care for the way they attach. i prefer the oe attachement point and then have the bar itself go up and back . i did find ,this am , a guy who did this and may even sell the kit to do it but it does require , i deduct, some welding. jdugger---------- my rides have been and still are le mans v11 tenni 1982 bmw r100rs street glide 2007 with some minor mods here and there. and some hondas and ducs. the lemans ,i modified by creating my own higher by 1 inch seat with an indentation right down the middle like the military saddles used to have and also the bicycle seats .( to prevent long term damage to the prostate gland and other ) and also i raised the bars by 2 inches and 2 back . i made it into a great st bike . but totally unreliable and poor dealerships and parts availability . only time i have been stranded by the side of the road for 8 hours in upstate connecticut .and i ended up going to germany to pick up parts for it . thus ,i had to retire it ....but the best bike and most satisfying bike i have ever owned . i hope that the 1125r will be the same . most of my rides are from conn. thru vt/maine to florida via deal's gap. and west virginia ,thus i need a comfortable bike. i started this buell search when i rode the xb12xt and i liked it but i prefer the lower weight lower height 1125r. thank you all again | ||

Ibppjr The CR triple clamp is used, had to modify it slightly and mount the ignition switch. LSL has a conversion for the Firebolt that will fit. New triple, less work, but I think the bar they provide will interfere with the fairing, you have to swap out the bars. | ||

The LSL firebolt triple clamp will not fit. The dimensions on the top triple are very close but NOT the same. It might force on, but it is off by about .040" per side. Al | ||

Ccryder, I really like those bags that you have, they are the givi v35? I have found those (the pair) for $460 and thought that to be a little too expensive for me. I was interested in know though, the width of those bags, do they feel really wide? do they keep the weight, when loaded highish or does it feel like a nice weight distribution? I have found a pelican 15xx case that i sorta like and can be found on twisted throttle or ebay for $99 a piece. but i wasn't sure if them being square boxes wouldn't look as sexy with the curves as your givi's do. if anyone else has any input, feel free! The Givi V35 bags, the way I have mounted them, will allow a passenger. There have been other r and cr riders that have fabricated a mount for the rear seat. The bags are no wider than the fairing so they don't hinder and lane splitting or anything else. The price you mentioned is about the going price. The Pelican cases are pretty robust but, kinda ugly (no worse than some of the BMW bags). Even fully loaded, I did not feel them change anything about the bike. I even tried one loaded and one empty to see if that affected handling. Time2Run Neil S. |
