Katana? I saw a squid crash right in front of me last weekend. He couldn't make the corner (correction-he was afraid of the corner), hit the breaks, and high sided into the bushes. The only gear he had on was sunglasses and fingerless gloves. He wasn't hurt very much, as he was slowed to about 15 mph before he went down. Guess what he was riding. If you guessed Katana, you win. The Katana is the Escort GT of the bike world. |

Froggy, you can get 34HP outta the Blast? You gonna let us in on your tuning secrets that get that kinda power? THAT 34 HP is certainly why you kicked the Kan-a-tuna to the curb. |

Hey man knock the rider not the bike. If youve never ridden one then you really have nothing to say at all about it. Yeah it is not a buell for sure but it is a nice bike if it is used properly. After all it is a sport touring bike that is after all a little out dated as far as some style goes. Not a HP hog but will run a comfortable and stable 140mph for sure. But thats about it on the top end without any further help. (750cc) Like I said knock the rider. The bike does handle pretty well for 475lbs, and will take a corner really well. All 33,600 miles of mine at least. Plus my katana will run with my XB9 all the way till the XB gives out and will keep on getting it in a straight line. Probably aint got anything for a XB12 though, I can definately say that. Anyway whatever floats your boat man, knock it all you want. It is still a great bike, it just needs a major overhauling to get it to compete with other bikes if it was meant to compete with other classes of bikes. BUT that guy is wrong about what he said about the Buell. He does not know his *ss from a hole in the ground because after all in the twisties, the Buell will totally waste the Katana. Sincerely Katana 750, and Buell XB9 owner |

Hey man knock the rider not the bike. It ain't the arrow! I've ridden a Kan-o-tuna, that's why I didn't by it. Not knocking the bike, I am however knocking the very soft torque delivery. V-Twins for life! |

I agree, a Katana 750 will run 140 no problem. I had one in 1988 when they came out. My XB9 only does about 125, if the wind is right. The Katana 600's were underpowered the day they came out compared to the CBR and Ninja, but the 750 engine ran just fine and was a damn quick bike for it's time. If you are on a Katana or an XB you probably should not be making fun of anyone else's horsepower levels. |

Yeah you are right, not built with torque in mind. Nice Jap I4 design. Being my first bike purchase it wasnt bad and I am planning to run it in to the ground. Although when it is through, I probably wont buy another jap I4. I have learned a lot with my V-twin purchase. It is a decent bike, but it sure aint a BUELL!!!!!!!!!! |

I think it was the juxtoposition of the Katana and the Buell with the Katana being the superior, more powerful of the two that provided the humor. Other than being fugly, the Katana is no worse than any other older IL4 bike. |

The Katana 600 1993 vintage was the first new street bike I ever bought on my own. It will always hold a place in my heart even though it was probably a load of crap.At the time it didn't seem that bad but I was young and didn't know the difference. I heard a guy at local bike night last night saying "I was riding between the SV and the Katana. If I'd been in front of the SV I'd have been gone. If I'd been behind the Katana I'd been pissed." He was riding a GSXR 750. |
