The fine folks at Buell filed a patent application with the US patent office. In that application, is the intriguing drawing below: Is Buell REALLY going to build it this time? More details at http://socalbuellriders.blogspot.com/2009/06/buell -patent-application-leaks-dirtbike.html |

quote:A search of patent filings at the US Patent office found an intriguing image buried in an application for a patent for what is described as "A motorcycle frame having integral fuel tank and airbox." While that might ring familiar with owners of any recent Buell offering, the really juicy part comes when you go to the trouble of downloading an applet to view the accompanying images/drawings that come with that patent application.
Of course . . . if you'd searched in 1986 you would have found the fuel in the frame and a host of other things that appeared on Buell MANY years later. I always joke that the "fuel in frame" is one of the few patents I am aware of (I'm sure there are plenty more) that nearly expired before it went into production. |

I would rock this SM in a heartbeat! They'd have to use the 9 instead of the 12 though. The 12 would be much to heavy for a supermoto. I like the undertail exhaust, and the color scheme is pretty nice too, although the beak looks pretty similar to the Ducati Hypermotard. The seat looks comfy!

The xb12 pistons weigh more than the 9? Last time I checked the XB9R and XB12R had the same curb weight. |

Brakes are over rated, they are known to slow most bikes down. |
