I got the word today that the 1078 Brutale I pre ordered in March is finally here. I think I'll get it Saturday just in time for my 60th birthday next week. The sad news is that I'll have to sell my 1125r to keep the wife happy. She claims there's not room for 5 bikes & 2 cars in the garage. I suggested that she leave her Beemer outside but she didn't go for it. Anyone interested in a stock '08 1125r(except for '09 white bodywork) with 2500 miles for cheap, PM me. PS: I'll never sell my XB12Ss. It's still my favorite ride. |

Congratulations! That is a sweet bike. I saw a show about the Agusta factory and how they build their bikes. I was impressed for sure. Looking forward to seeing pictures! |

Steve, You are a real credit to the Harley Davidson brand. I mean, not too many guys have a Buell and an MV! Don't tell me you are going to take it to a Harley dealer for service. Photos please. Drummer in your future? Going to be at the NJ track next Monday or Tues? I will be there to take a few laps on Lil Blackie and help my gang in the pits. PS: how much for the watercooler? Jon, I guess I just can't disconnect from the mother ship. All I need now is a Harley. The wife says no to track days. It's a battle I don't want to fight just now with the Brut on the way. I will surely miss chasing you around the track though. $16,995 + sales tax + DMV fees = $18,334.15 out the door. No freight or prep charges for a pre order ($505 saved). I'll take some pics soon. I'm going to try to leave it stock if I can control myself. Well, frame sliders are a must though. Kevin's already got an exhaust in mind...... |

All I need now is a Harley. Now that you are 60, you qualify for a bagger. I would hate to see you have to find a new home for your bezzer though:-). The wife says no to track days. It's a battle I don't want to fight just now with the Brut on the way. I will surely miss chasing you around the track though. Obviously the missus is the one with sound judgement in your family:-) PS: how much for the watercooler? I meant the 1125R! Can't wait to see the pics.

Jon, I'd like to get $7,500 for the 1125 but I don't think I will. Maybe close to it on eBay if I get lucky. For senior citizens from Sag Harbour, there's a special deal! I just don't see me on any heavy touring bike. Neither my wife nor I enjoy 2 up riding. She vastly prefers the Porsche with the top down so that's how we roll together. Steve |

This is the bike HD should have used the Revolution for. Or at least what the Street Rod should have been. Sorta looks like a VR Tuber already. Congrats on the purchase.

Lucky SOB! The 1125 is nice, but it ain't no MV. I used to go to Ferrachi's shop and just stare at the details on the MVs. Every inch has some beautiful detail. Rolling artwork. |

Now that I think of it, I nearly bought an MV 5 years ago. I had a great commission year in 2004 and bought my XB. I wanted an MV, but the sales guys are Ferrachi were such arrogant dicks (probably because I dress in t-shirt and flip flops and don't look like I have any money) that I said screw it and went with another Buell instead. |

Spatten1 - I have to say that so far I am not pleased with the dealer or importer either. They refused to offer any info on delivery until yesterday and chided me for even asking. How dare I??? We'll see but there's no Erik Buell there, that's for sure. |

One of the building inspectors in my home town just bought a Brutale..real nice piece of work, that bike...I saw him while at lunch the other day, invited him to ride with the club on our next outing...got snobbed big time...he rides with the "elite"...and won't be seen with "Harley" guys...think I'll flick a booger on his fender the next time I run across him. |

Why are people still pining over the VRod motor? It ain't THAT great a motor. |

Court, Maybe Erik could give them a lesson in customer service. Ever wonder why companies with a great product go under? Fast, That snobbery is a bunch of crap. The HOG members around here do that to Buell riders. The GM at the dealership told me that his new HD rep promised that the MV parts and bike availability problems would be fixed. HD should assign the task to Erik. |

Steve I think Erik has enough on his plate. But I know what you mean. My buddy has the same type of issue with his Ducati dealer that also sell's MV. Kinda reminds you of the days when you put your name on a list for bike and no clue as to when. Hope the bike is a good experience though. Sure looks nice. |

"It ain't THAT great a motor." Huh? There's been guys who've turned bikes back into HD who put 100k on the clock in 1 year. It isn't sportbike light, but it sure as hell is durable and the best motor they've ever made. The Rev, as is, is too big for a Brutale, but you're understanding where I'm going right? The point is, they should have built a Brutale type bike with the a varient of the Rev. Would have sold better than both the VR and the Street Rod. |

The "Rev" is a pig of an engine. Were it not, Erik would have used it. It ain't like he couldn't get one. |

Dana - I think I'm on my own with this one. I told them I wanted a shop manual with the bike when I put the deposit down....nada so far. The MV forum is OK but I don't think it has the depth & participation of this one. And it has no factory connection like we have here. I doubt that I'll ever meet Massimo Tamburini. I've met & spoke with Erik 5 or 7 times. Even met his wife. Good people, not elitist at all. They might not make the very finest motorcycle (yet), but Buell is a very special company. I'm proud to be a member of this community. |

Jerseyguy, I'm on that MV forum because I want to own an F4 one day. They just don't get much traffic as we do on this site. They seem like nice people thought. A few guys over on that forum own Buell's too. |

LOL. like he had a choice. Right. That's believable. HD would force Buell to go all the way to Austria to have a totally new engine design created from scratch because they wouldn't share a perfectly suitable in-house engine design owned, developed, and manufactured by HD. Hmmmmm. Doesn't sound plausible to me. |

To me either. I think we can both agree that Buell is better off with the Rotax right? No matter how much I hate the fact that Buell is using a vendor other than HD and from across an ocean, its still a good motor and a good fit for Buell. |

Very little of the information contained in this thread appears accurate. I'm curious as to what folks are basing their opinions on regarding Buell's choice of a motor. Does anyone have any credible sources? Like I say, a great deal of this appears to be in stark contrast, were I going to express an opinion, what I'd say. It appears inaccurate but I am open to being proven wrong. |

Spill it and remove all uncertainty in the story. I can only surmise my stance from the outside. |

>>>Spill it and remove all uncertainty in the story. I have nothing, but some of the above I know to be wrong. Just that, in reading some of the above, I'd surmise it most unlikely. I'm wondering where some of these positions came from. |
