Last Tuesday, I saw an XT at the Gap staying at the resort.. Anyone here? Man oh man do I love my highway pegs, 3500 miles roundtrip and not a problem with seating or monkey butt. This is from a chronic sufferer too... I had no problem doing 700 mile days (2x) I can barely do 100 miles before my butt goes crazy. Here's what I did : Seamless wicking underwear Air pants (no jeans! I tried jeans one day and I took them off in 10 mins) Corbin Highway pegs I also rubbed a lil anti itch cream on my backside, and never did I feel the badness of Monkey butt. |

I was at the gap on Tuesday. Orange '06. Not staying at the resort. I am at Fontana for the COG national rally. My Uly is running like crap. Low idle, stumbling, shaking like crazy at any RPM below 4000. I just had the 10k service done. Really pissing me off. Sorry had to vent. Anyway maybe it was my bike you saw. |

Oh, I bought a huge 3" pile sheepskin on eBay for about 60 bucks. I cut it to shape and put in brass grommets at the corners and I use small bungee cords to fasten it. Awesome comfort! After a week on the road my arse is usually really sore. I have zero arse soreness. The downside is that it looks like a wookie is trying to hump my uly. |

"running like crap. Low idle, stumbling, shaking like crazy at any RPM below 4000. I just had the 10k service done." Sounds like they did a TPS reset on a cold motor. |

It ran great when I drove it home. Better than ever actually. Started being funny about 400 miles on day one of the trip. Did think about TPS though. But why would it run perfectly for a while? |

Check your plug wires. One may not have been plugged all the way back in. Look at the front plug wire for laying heavy across the idle adjuster cable. If necessary it could be wrapped with tape to get you home. |

Will take a look at wires. Should not be rubbed through yet. They are brand new. Will push on the boots to see if they are seated properly. Good idea thanks. |

I did my first sparkplug change a week and 1/2 ago. I would not trust it to a mechanic myself. The sparkplug boots are a bit of a PITA to get back on correctly. I wouldn't trust the job to someone getting paid a flat rate. |

JLB, my bike hates the Dragon, the AFV got all skewed last time I ran it, ended up resetting it on the side of the road. She did fine on the ride home. |

Why would one be below 4000 rpm on the GAP? |

Problem did not start on the gap. Started well before on the interstate in VA. Ran ok on the gap because I was spinning the motor higher. My bike always ran glass smooth even below 3000 rpm. Now it's like riding a jackhammer. What I found: Plug wires ok seemed well seated and no chafing that I could find Front two clips on inner airbox cover were unclipped. Adjusted idle higher. It was way too low. Wires on ECM seem ok. Verdict: Idles higher, but still sputtering during low rpm crawling. Exhaust sounds different than it used too (not just today but since problem started), but maybe that is the misfiring at idle. Dunno. Thinking about trading it in. Tired of dealing with this stuff. My 12R 2004 runs like a top. This one not so much. |

Froggy, if you are free sometime in the near future could I hook up with you for a TPS reset? Root beer is on me. |

> running like crap. Low idle, stumbling, shaking like crazy at any RPM below 4000. Sounds like you're running on one cylinder. Are both the headers hot? Do you smell gas? I had the same experience with a bad spark plug. |

Here's your evidence http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/orderpage.aspx?pi= 04RK00XR060482&po=482 Also, the 8 billion Connies on killboy should suffice. Bike got me home ok and ran fine. There was one Concours that blew a head gasket on the way back. Sidetracked us for a few hours til we figured out how to get the carcass home. |

Steve; all kidding aside; it sounds like you might have a bad spark plug. I had a similar experience with my Moto Guzzi Sport back in the '70s. It ran like crap at low RPM, but was O.K. if I kept it wound up. It cleared up as soon as I put new plugs in. I know you said it's running fine now, but if it starts acting up, try changing the plugs. |

Crusty, I will keep that in mind. Things I did on the road: Adjusted idle higher Clipped 2 front clips on inner airbox cover that were open Made sure plug boots and coil boots were on tight. Disconnected and reconnected plugs on ECM to insure positive connection. I'm thinking a TPS reset would be in order now and all should be good. Seems like it gets worse with heat (ambient) so I'm thinking electrical or computer related. |

Your bike runs 5000x longer with the fan after parking too, perhaps its related? |
