"There was wide speculation at Miller last weekend that the Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda factory and or factory-supported teams will be exiting the current AMA/DMG roadrace series after this season concludes."

Why? They're winning.

"Official Safety Bike" replacing the safety car. This is no big deal.

F*ck Superbike Planet. They have done nothing but complain about the Buells in the AMA/DMG Series since it started and it must be ABSOLUTELY killing them too see the racing actually get better because of the inclusion of the Buells.

When I read this story - on a REAL racing news outlet (Roadracing World) I thought to myself: "Uh, oh. How long will it take the Buell haters to claim this proves Buell "bought" the series?"

It turns out not very long at all. At least they're consistent and predictable.

As for the factory teams leaving . . . didn't they already leave? There was a lot of talk between seasons that there would be less factory involvement, but the factory money and involvement seems to be masked and hidden anyway to the point it's not really clear what factories are and aren't involved and to what degree. I don't think any factories really want to brag about how much money they're investing to make their bikes win. They want to present the illusion that the bikes are doing it themselves.

Rockstar Makita will be racing next year in some form . . . with or without Suzuki money and they will be better funded than Richie Morris . . . with or without Suzuki money.

Erion will be there Monster Attack will be there with or without Kawasaki money . . .

When you strip away the reactionary Chicken-Little alarmists, can you really find any way that racing this year is worse than last year?

Did anyone else watch WSBK on Sunday. Did anyone else see how they stopped for the red-flag then re-started and then weren't quite sure where everyone stood because they had to add in the times from pre-red flag laps?

Was anyone else thinking a pace car might have actually made a better race out of that mess?

Buells entire race budget . . . that crocus they would "buy" a series from . . . is less that the Japanese teams spend in a single weekend.

Elvis: No, not really...

What I DID see was a series that DMG would do well to emulate, actually.

Jaime,

Imagine for a moment that it played out a little differently. Imagine Checa made an incredible pass on Spies in the last lap and 'won' . . . and then, after reviewing 'aggregate times' the officials gave the win to Spies.

Would you really have considered that to be a satisfying ending? As it was, Spies won free and clear, so no harm, no foul, but if it had played out a little differently, the flaw in the system of using 'aggregate time' could have made for a really lousy race ending.

Really? Other than Mladins domination of the Superbike class the racing this year has been outstanding. I have enjoyed the racing this year much more than last year, or years past really, and the events I have attended in person have been better from a spectator/fan perspective. I actually enjoy having a diverse field of competitors that seem to be evenly matched performance wise. From a racer standpoint I also like the idea of the privateer teams being able to field a competitive bike without having to mortgage their lives away doing so.}

World Superbike has been rather disappointing, save a few races. Mostly it's been a runaway by Spies or Haga, yippee!

Don't forget Fabrizio!

Daytona Sportbike has been good, and even though the Yamaha's have made Daytona Superbike ( I really don't like saying that D word) more interesting it's still the Maladin show.

World Superbike has had the best racing going.
