Take a look at this (fodder perhaps for a new thread) and see what you think.
Read Erik's letter very carefully . . . there is great reason for optimism. But if you want to "try out" current United States Economic Policy . . . . go to your local Maybach dealer tomorrow . . . . buy a couple dozen cars, about $15,000,000 worth on the average VISA card should do it . . . and then try paying them with play money when the bill comes. It's what the government refers to as "hope and change".
Personal responsibility and excellence are poised to reemerge.

Take a look at the June/July edition of RacerX. It's hard to miss, with Danny Eslick on the cover 
But, they wrote a damn good article.
And hinted at the fact that ALL the teams knew the rules before a single qualifying event, or tire test. So why wasn't anyone whining then? |

WOW Court,i must say,that was an INCREDIBLE post you made above.
As a Machinist,i try VERY hard to maintain production within tolerance.That is also VERY difficult and nerve wracking when running tens of thousands of widgets.
Efficiency and Utilization work hand in hand.How many machines can i utilize most efficiently.How do we improve process and efficiency while reducing unit cycle times.

That was ugly . . one of the uglier moments ever . . . in fact, as I think of that table collapsing under the weight of the drunken Brit in the hot pink tu-tu . . me standing there fly wide open and Capt Pete's stolen car sitting in the yard amongst the passed out folks . . . yikes.
But . . . I know you have the photo so I think we should, not unlike the shots of Air Force One over New York, seal the files under the doctrine of national security.
I can see the headlines . . . "Badweb membership plummets from 15,000+ to 9 with release of photo".

It's common sense but it seems elusive . . . we now have a 31 year old "student" (he dropped out to take the job) in charge of General Motors to serve at Obama's rep.
We are expecting to hammer out an "efficient, lean, mean and productive" giant by having the company:
- Run by a guy who's was a student 2 weeks ago.
- Owned 60% by the U.S. Govt and 40% by the UAW.
- Just made a mockery of most the Bankruptcy laws on the books.
- We have a "Car Czar" who has never worked in the industry . . . er, make that ANY industry.
- With a committee composed of folks who main qualification is "political donor"
- By the folks who estimated that xx Billion would last through the end of July . . . it lasted 3 weeks.
QUESTION: Would you buy an General Motors car made today? . . tomorrow?

IF, I were to purchase another American car, it would be a FORD. I don't agree with a lot of the causes that FORD donates its dollars to, however I wasn't forced to purchase the company through ridiculous taxpayer loans. Let GM go. Maybe from the ashes, something truly innovative could be born. |

I will not buy a GM vehicle until I no longer own the company. I will not reward incompetence with the money I have left over after paying my taxes.

YES!!! My next new car will be once again another Chevrolet! I've had the best luck with Chevy's of all automobles I've ever owned.
I owned a Chevy Silverado for 4 years put 70,000 miles on it and only changed the oil, oil filter, one headlight and one running light. I finally traded it because it needed new tires after 70,000 miles. That's the kind of transportation I want, just like my Ulysses, ROCK solid! |
