The NBC national evening news had a sickening, scripted piece on the "ripple effect" of the stimulus spending and how people's lives are improving. Of course, it was situated in lovely WVA. All the workers who had been out of work are singing the Presidents praises. All three of them, that is. I doubt NBC had any production cost other than the tech who cued up the video sent by the White House media outlet. Hard hitting journalism to reaffirm the President's claim of how the stimulus bill has succeeded. BLECH! Two things have happened in the last two months that make the economy seem to be improving: It hasn't continued to quake and slip down into an unknowable abyss as it seemed to be doing at the first of the year, and what is normally an up turn in activity during any normal spring time is being misread as an extra effort within the economy to come back to life. This too shall pass...the no news is good news I mean. Count on inflation, and lots of it. Someone within the administration will be brave and claim that, verily, the economy is now out of a recession. Technically, they will be correct. But the non-recession will be sluggish growth combined with stingy inflation. The good news in all of this is that the illegal immigration problem will disappear. If you have some money at your disposal such an economic climate may be tolerable. But for those of us who are neither in debt, nor flush with savings, the ledge will only become more narrow. That may lead to an emigration problem! (Message edited by j2blue on May 28, 2009) |

Those Opec asswipes aren't playing with the rules of supply and demand any more. What? They have never played by the rules of such. They, and their partners here and abroad, have always controlled supply and demand. That is supply and demand of our money for the oil they make sure we are addicted to. |
