Ok, you're talking about Mountain City, TN. That is a great road. Take it north, and you end up in shady valley. I thought that was the road you were talking about when I replied, but then I Googled and there is a Mountain City, GA and 441 does run through it. I think the road you're talking about is 181 (or 180 I can't remember) It connects Morganton to Boone. I've ground down the passenger pegs of the Uly on that road, it's fun. There is an exit for it off I-40, so it's easy to find. There is no shortage of similar roads. |

I'll be headed up on the 22nd, but this trip will already have a full house. mom and sis are going to paint I think, me and wes from work are taking the bikes up there to ride all weekend. I'm going to try and make it up there about once a month. I'd be glad to have you come mtb! You probably know the mountains better then me. |

Jim did the same thing to mine last night. There's something satisfying about the look and smell of new tires and fresh oil. I've been running the Bridgestone BT-16's. Very soft compound and really sticky tires, but they square off really fast with highway miles. For the trip I went with a sport touring tire Michelin Pilot Road 2's. Will see how they do. I'll also be stopping of at Western Reserve in Ohio for dyno runs and performance tune. I've heard awesome things about the way Helicon runs after they do their magic to the ECM. |

Jlnance, You swap out the 77 connector to the voltage regulator yet? ... did mine today at work during lunch. 30 minute job at most. Sorry no pictures. It was a $19.40 part from Ray Price P/N: 1Y1312.02A8. I used some 10AWG strippers and a crimper that was specific for the pins. I'm sure I could sign out the tools some weekend if anyone else is interested in doing theirs. |

Tim - The part is waiting for me at Ray Price, but I haven't picked it up yet. If you're offering a crimper and a driveway, I'll surely take you up on it. |

I know I probably shouldn't post this here, but just wanted to let you guys know. there is a big sale at cycle gear this weekend and they have some really good deals on tires. I think they are doing sets of pirelli's for around 190. Also we are having a special on tire mount and balance for two tires for 45 per tire on the bike, 20 per tire off the bike. tire change prices are all month long, so go wear out some tires! |

Tire? Not yet. I just dropped my 12Ss off for the 1K service. Only three weeks old. Something to put on your "rain gear" list. I picked up a back pack rain cover from my computer commuter backpack for the days I want to ride regardless the forecast. REI on-line has the Sea to Summit rain cover. XS size for your commuter size backpack. The XS Sn240 Pack Cover is a nice bright orange color. It will keep water out of the zippers. And when I ride to Wilson from G'boro it will keep my do bok dry. At $25 it was a lot less expensive than the HD commuter back pack with cover for $150. |

Buell sighting: There was a yellow Blast with bags and a windshield parked in the same parking spot with me in front of the Raleigh Grande Cinema 16 last night around 7:30pm. Any chance it was someone here? |

Spike - Assuming you were there with your wife, good on you for finding time to take her out. Babies can make that difficult. |

I was not. However, Sarah and I have managed to sneak out once or twice while leaving the baby with her parents. I also put the passenger pegs back on my Firebolt in anticipation of some 2-up riding this summer.

Dirt cheap: '04 XB12S for $3000 spotted on craigslist: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/1165644029.html
quote:Help me pay my mortgage. I'm behind and need cash now. This bike is in good shape and could sell for $4,000 to $5,000 if I had the time. I just need cash now. So, let me tell you about the bike. It's a 2004 Buell XB12S with 14,000 miles. It runs great, starts every time, and corners like a dream. I'm going to miss it. The bike has some cosmetic damage. Mirror and clutch handle are scratched. Exhaust pipe and timing cover have small dents from a parking lot drop. I've taken care of maintenance, just not cosmetic repairs. The plastic parts have been painted black, and some of the paint is coming off. Tires are 50-75% I installed a Mueller power clutch for easier shifting. The dealership installed a racing ECM and Jardine Muffler. I've priced it at $3200 so you can talk me down to $3000, but, honestly, I will take anything close. Best offer this week takes it. Hurry and beat the competition.
It looks a bit rough, but $3k is a steal for a running XB12. If I were sitting on the cash I'd buy it, clean it up, and resell it. |

If you're offering a crimper and a driveway, I'll surely take you up on it. Your driveway or mine doesn't matter. I can bring the tools home from work overnight or for a weekend. Just let me know what works best Jim. |

Getting rid of your Buell after only 40,000 miles. Wow, you can only get 40,000 miles out of a Buell? (Message edited by datallone on May 16, 2009) |
