Josh; in Florence, DO NOT miss the Medici chapel by Michelangelo. Also do not miss the Michelangelo museum that houses the David. David's cool, but better yet are the unfinished statues, where the posture and remaining stone makes it look as if the people/statues are struggling to free themselves from the raw stone. Most cool. And of course the wine  Rome; the old ruins and especially the Colosseum (sp?) and the christian Catacombs. If you've read up on your Roman Empire those are very impressive - and don't forget the wine . Venice: get off the beaten track, find a nice restaurant at one of the canals and enjoy a good meal and some wine Madrid: the old part of town is beautiful + great food and wine Barcelona: any buildings, parks etc. by Dali is an experience. The Opera House is supposed to be fantastic as well. And they have great selections of traditional food and full blooded red wine Lisbon: Port Wine and the beach Henrik | ||

Josh, if you make it to the north of Italy, Lake Majiore is tranquil. Head for Stresa, get on a boat for a two minute ride and go check out the palace island where Napoleon courted Josephine. If you're close, Monaco is always nice and you can eat and drink just as cheap as anywhere providing you don't go to the Casino. There's a fantastic motor museum in Monaco too, and you are very close to Grand Prix time. Always worth a look and do not miss Saturday night walking the circuit and taking in the bars and the GP festivities just as everyone else including the rich and famous will be doing. Rocket | ||

Aaron, the only pics of the M2 I have are nearly identical to the one Paul posted, since I took that one with his camera and a couple with mine, IIRC. And they're only 2MP. I'll put them on my web site tomorrow and post a link, so's not to clutter your mailbox. | ||

Philly, the following takes the sting out a little: while the BLURR slowly goes back together (as we speak) the Thong is doing an admirable job of fulfuelling my Buell fix (yep, it got ridden yesterday), AND yesterday was so sweet here that we had to have the office window open and the paddle fan going to keep the temps comfortable. Russ; don't know for sure, but am thinking it might be the main doors of the Cathedral in Florence - huge, imposing black/white building in the center of town. Sounds like an interesting story though. On that note, the grand European cathedrals took several hundred years to complete, and it was quite common that the job/trade was passed down through generations of craftsmen; Grandfather was a mason, who's son became a mason and continued the job and passed it on to his son etc. etc. Josh; I know, I know. Court,Dave S,Bubba,I have a parts puzzle I need help with.I have one of the stock dual disc kits for the S-2 and the only part I don't have is the banjo bolt into the master cylinder for 2 brake hoses.The S-2's used a stock Sportster m/c(1" controls) and I have the new m/c that came with the kit,but no banjo bolt.Tried my dealer but the poor parts guys could not fathom what I wanted.Its American thread,appears to be 7/16x24.So I need a double banjo bolt(2hoses) for an S-2/Sportster.All the catalogs I looked in list metric | ||

Get into the city center and walk from there: All highlights doable within a two hours walk around. Walk with your wife over the ancient bridge over the Arno river and back: Guaranteed you don`t succeed without buying some jewelry there. Prices from Euro 50 till unlimited. Do make a reservation for an excellent meal. Dinner time start at 20.00 H. Ask for American coffee when you want to drink coffee. Otherwise you get Espresso:10 cc extract to bump your caffeine content. In the city center you can follow here and there a group with a guide and you will miss nothing. Any idea how punishing it is for the World's Most Anal Retentive Person to move to his first HOUSE? I call him daily to drain the seriousity from him, tease him about how the boxes must all be lined up with the edges parallel and in a straight line, all boxes must be the same size, clearly labeled indicating not only contents but a sort of "Bob Villa Truage" system to tell what order they should be transported (heavy on the bottom) and unpacked. He's gone so far as to label some as not needing to be opened for a while. My bet is that he could tell you the ANSI test spec, MIL Spec and tensile strength of the packing tape. His tape gun will be returned from Compu-Trak in time to make sure everything is packed and ready one week in advance. As one of the few owners of a pick-up truck in New York City, I will be treated to the right to be part of the moving team and, in spite of how objectionable my behavior and ongoing commentary may prove to be during the day, the ability to torture the Great Dane from early morning to well after sunset in front of his REAL friends. I consider it my personal mission to insure BADWEB is properly represented at the Henrik's that day. Court P.S. - wanna know HOW bad he is right now? He borrowed my truck to go get his XB and left his electronic toll tag on the windshield. Bear in mind I pay something like $14 in tolls just to drive to the city each day (Broklyn Battery Tunnel = $3.50.....5 miles later Verazzano Bridge $7.00) The first mistake was leaving it there. The SECOND misstake was TELLING me. RT and I have just engaged in a wager as to how many trips I can make over the bridge before sun-up Thursday. |
