I just took my bike out to practice this a.m. It's a 2002 Buell Blast. The sucker backfired and died. It was a loud pop. It actually did it the other day as well, but started back up immediately. Can't get it to kick over now. It starts but won't turn over to ignite. There is gas in the tank. What is causing this, and is it an easy fix? I would love to fix it myself. Any help out there Buellers?!! email me at barb.worthington@hotmail.com as well please. |

It starts but won't turn over to ignite. I'm not sure exactly what that means. I'm guessing the starter spins the enigne, but the bike will not run. The first thing to check is the manifold coupler (also called the carb boot.) The are a frequent cause of this type of failure. A new one will cost you about $10. |

Just wondering? Did you take off from a cold start? Buell's r really sensitive about that. Gotta let them warm up. U should check ur spark plug and make sure it's not fouled. I've heard of spark plugs not being completely torqued down and causing the same symptom. |

I rode out to Austin this weekend for a BBQ crawl and had this happen to me. I rode about 20 miles to the gathering spot no problem. Warmed up as normal, didn't go faster than 70 over there, no problems. When I went to leave after an hour of sitting, it started ok, then backfired and would turn over, but never fire. Eventually troubleshooting I popped the clips on the airbox and pulled it open a bit. Smelled strong of gas and with it cracked open it started no problem. The next morning I had the same issue after breakfast and opening the airbox did the trick. I've never had the problem in the 3k miles before this. |
