H-D never approved the book. We asked for cooperation and they wanted to review the book prior to publication in return for this cooperation. With the short time involved the book would never have been completed in time if they had been reviewing it in detail. We never really got beyond the impossibility of working out a deal with them in the short time involved. If you read the credits page you will see the disclaimer we had to put there. Perhaps the next book will manage to navigate the labryrinth that is Juneau Avenue. We sure would sell more books if H-D was involved. |

Dave, thanks for the insight. Buell is not know for going by the rules so just as well. To make a long story short, I needed to go to an aftermarket (HD and BigDog) shop to drop off some bearings. I took the Ice White Pearl 95 S2. I must of had three people standing around admiring the bike. It clearly says Buell American Made on the tank but I got the usual questions. I explained the significance of the S2 to them and told them about number 35 and how it came to me. In closing I mentioned the book and told them if you want to here about a small company producing unique bikes with a loyal following then check it out. One guy said "well HD is the same way except they sell more bikes". I said "yes but I have met Erik Buell and Flick (I had to explain who Flick was) how many HD people have you met"? Silence; Start bike, ride home.... Unfortunately I noticed my rear base gasket leaking and fortunately they did not. I hope they buy the book. I think people get bored of reading the same old imperial banter. |

The word we are getting from Whitehorse is that the first run of books is just about gone and they are going to run a second edition. If you want a copy of the first edition you may still be able to get one for a short while but they are very close to gone. Thanks to all of you folks who have not only purchased them but have passed on the good word about them. I am (and I know Court is too) very happy with all the kind words. Thanks |

The Buell story is a great one and you guys told it well. I've read the book cover to cover two or three times and gone through it more times than I can count. BTW if there comes a part 2 I hope we can get another autographed one. |

The book was great, only I read it in about 2 hours. I see people have already commented on the length, so I'll just keep quiet and wait for the second book. |
