I've read that lots of people like the Scorpion EXO-1000. I went a little cheaper (EXO-700) and am sorry. I knew the helmet was heavier (only 50% Kevlar) and it doesn't have the sunshield. What wasn't immediately obvious is the deafening roar (and sometimes whistle) above 85 MPH or so. My next helmet will be a 1000, or perhaps another brand altogether. |

I've got an Arai Corsair and love it. It's light enough compared to many of my other helmets that it's almost like not wearing one. |

Remember "If you have a ten dollar head, were a ten dollar helmet". In a much famed test by Motorcyclist (I believe) a $75 DOT helmet outperformed the "best" high dollar helmets in the most critical area of energy absorption. |

That's funny, Bell was the originator of the "ten dollar" ad. |

I have seen someone selling a plastic material you place over a clear shield and it was suppose to be transitional or self darkening. I thought it looked interesting; not sure how well it would work though. |
