I was out riding this morning and my S3 started to act up when I came to a stop in traffic. I got the bike started again but it wouldn't make any power unless I did alot of throttle twisting. There seemed to be some stumbling while trying to cruise along at 50 also. If I get on it hard, it seems Ok. I checked my plug wires when I got home and both were still attached to the plugs. Is this a TPS issue? I had pulled the plugs on a prior occasion and they looked lean. The bike has a CF ham can and a V&H CF cannister. and was not remapped after the exhaust was installed. It got warm out this morning and it seemed like low end fuel starvation but that is only my best guess

I checked the throttle body and everything looked OK. I pulled the neg lead off of the battery and left it off for a couple minutes. Put it back on and started the bike. I only went for a 6 mile ride but it was enough to get it up to normal temps and nothing wierd happened. This sounds like a ECM issue to me.

might just have been a loose battery connection.

Wish it was that simple. Battery terminals were tight

if its a carbed bike it sounds like the bike sat for about a month and it needs a carb clean. runnin like crap at idle and goes away when you get on it, but comes back when you get back to cruisin... runnin a little lean? idle circuit is clogged

Thanks guys. Its an FI bike and I don't have a FSM yet. I need the ECM spy cable and money just got uncomfortably tight. The bike made power up top but wouldn't idle and missing real bad down low. I checked for loose connections first. Everything that it is doing seems to point to ECM.Why else would pulling the power source and then restoring have any effect?

You need to do a TPS/AFV reset first. Try to find someone in the area that has a cable and ecm spy. I would also do a diagnostics check with ecm spy. If you can't find someone I can send you my cable as long as you promise to send it back to me.

Thanks Tdman77 for the offer. I already down loaded ECM spy. I will try to find someone local with a cable but its nice to have you for a back up if I strike out. It would take a real low life to screw over a fellow bueller. That is what makes the people on this forum a cut above the rest of society. Pay it forward is a prime example.

Buellisticx1, Great place to start. I am still looking for a local guy with the cable but tdman77 has graciously offered his. No shortage of possible symptoms to look at so I'll start with the stuff that I don't need ECM spy to resolve first.

Check the gaskets on the intake manifold. Then TPS reset.
