Local dealer has one in decent shape. Fires right up, everything works. Looking at it for the fiancé for a starter bike. Anyone have any experience with these little v-twins? |

That'd be a badass track bike. Vintage racing also. |

I know very little of the 250, but a 400 is on my "bucket list" |

My sons first bike was a '88 VTR 250. He had to have a v-twin! I thought I'd turn him into a Buell guy. He rode the wheels off that Honda all through high school. The VTR was known around the neighborhood for scraping pegs on the local lake road. I found that out after he left for school and I took it out one day. Some old guy was shaking his fist at me! Brad hated the white/pink/teal paint. It became Corvette silver after a few months. The only thing we ever did was replace the petcock and change the oil. The petcock would get stuck and the knob was plastic. Brad has moved on to Ducati's. He's now a BMW car tech and his first purchase was a Red 620 Monster, last year he added a White 848 to his garage. At least he kept the v-twins! He says my Buells shift like a truck! If the Honda is in decent shape,I'd go for it. |

It is a super and a duper bike and I sometimes wish I did not sell mine. I was getting concerned about availability of [body] parts, which is probably completely unfounded because, while we only had that bike in the states for years 88-91, it's been sold over the rest of the world in a dozen model varieties for years and years. It is, by definition, a niche and sought after bike in certain circles. Also, to look at it, everyone assumes it's a 750, so no worries about being picked on for being a two-fiddy. Cosmeticley it's got some issues, but it fires right up and runs great. All the lights and signals and that work. It'll be her first bike, so the possabilty of a drop is high, which is why the cosmetics don't matter much. If we can get a good enough deal on it, we'll pull the trigger. Then it'll be off to the safety course before she rides it. Thanks for the info guys, I'll let ya know if the deal works out. |
