Well, probably not what you think... Just a bruised ego and a hightened sense of humility as I jumped off the 250cc suzuki that was too small for me as I attempted a double uturn in a 20 ft box. The MSF'ers were trying to kill me! Ha, I learned that though I cant turn well, I can fall just fine! I stepped off and not a scratch. Devestated the pegs though. I was going less than idle speed, doing the figure 8 thing (which I still can't do on a bike where bars hit my knees) and I looked down :-( Big no no. I felt like a circus bear on a tricycle though, shoulda maybe gone to the course that teaches on blasts. Anyways, Glad I didnt drop my bike! There- now I can feel ok about shelling out $250 for the course- they need a new peg! | ||

So did you pass the course or did you fall during the test? For those of you who don't know, falling during the MSF riding test is an automatic failure. | ||

Thats not true Buellidan. I took the Safety course here in Houston, it hasn't been a year, and you were there. They had all the instructors from around Texas here in Houston learning new teaching techniques. During the test a guy wiped out, he hit the front breaks while turning and the front end washed out. It was the avoid an obstacle swerve part of the test. He was slightly injured got a nice strawberry on his elbow. Anyway he passed the test like everyone else. It is my opinion that him and a few others should not have passed the test. It was VERY obvious that many of them had never even sat on a bike before. I have been riding since I was 7 so the course was a walk in the park for me. But its kind of scary that some of those guys could walk into a dealer and buy a Busa the next day. And after talking to some of them thats exactly what they did. Me, I went and bought a XB the next day! Jason | ||

When I took my last road test which was in Hawaii, there was this old guy having to retake his as well. (Hawaii won't let you transfer your motorcycle endorsement from another state) He was riding a fulldress harley. He never put his foot down once. I mean ever. Rolled from section to section, took the skid test, everything without touching his feet down. The only person to take the slolam test faster then him was the kid on the honda elite moped. (moped only liscences can be had by kids at 15 but take the same skills test as motorcycles) He made the rest of us look like newbies. | ||

Jason, Yes, I was there and the reason for why he passed was he said he misunderstood the directions and thought he was supposed to stop as soon as he made the swerve. Do I think he should have passed? Nope, but I wasn't in charge of that class and wasn't in a position to make that call. We were under the direction of one of the States MSF directors so it wasn't my place to say anything. I do agree with you though that he had no business passing!! I can't believe you remembered me BTW!! | ||

Buellidan, I understood the position you guys were in, what can you do. I remember you cause you had one of your Buells with you, it was on a trailer when I was checkin it out. So with us both being Buell enthusiasts............ |
