I just dropped off my 00 X1 for service at the dealer. I'm thinking that the bike is a bit lean and they say that it can't be mapped or changed with out a race tuner? Also having a V&H slip-on and a stock replacement K&N according to them leans out he bike too much and they suggest replacing with stock parts?? Is this so? The sad part is I'm not even sure if the bike is lean just seems a little hotter than last year, I have not gone for a long ride and checked the plugs. Any ideas?

you could just buy the ecm spy cable, and program your existing stock ECM to the race map. That might be what they mean by "race tuner". That would work gloriously with the V&H exhaust, etc...

NEVER NEVER NEVER let a H-D tech work on your Buell!! Seriously though, I am a H-D/Buell tech in training and there are major differences between the two. If they are not a buell owner then they are just going by the book which most of us have found out to be wrong on more than one occasion. Get an ECM Spy cable and the software. Once you get ECM Spy running send me a PM and I will forward you a Race EEPROM that you can download into your stock ECM.

I've got the cable and the program that I bought from the forsale section. I just wanted to get the dang thing serviced as it hadn't seen the dealer ever and sometimes a second opinion is useful. I'm gonna let them tell me what they think is good/bad and go from there. It is a HD/Buell dealership though. Any body got a manual for the Program that American Sport Bike sells.

BUELLers:

Remember this: HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALERS, MAKING MECHANICS OUT OF BUELL RIDERS SINCE 1986 !!!

"i" showed a HARLEY-DAVIDSON technician how to do some thing that was in "ERROR" in the FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL ... The SERVICE MANAGER told me that they were obligated to do it by the FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL "EVEN IT WAS WRONG" !!! OF COURSE THE technician and SERVICE MANAGER ARE PROBABLY NO LONGER WITH THE DEALERSHIP IN QUESTION the way the employee turn over is in these Dealerships ...

Now that is "A1" "BUELLschitte" !!!

MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!

Have you ever submitted one of these?

Be part of the solution.

Knowing it's wrong is one thing and knowing it and doing nothing is just as wrong as those service techs. They really have no choice, unless you're going to tolerate a guy say "well, the book says to do it this way but I'm going do it my own way" . . . not gonna happen.

If you find something that needs corrected, do something about it.

Just a silly suggestion . . .

The ECM spy manual is a free download.

Court:

"i" have !!!

"i" even ask the Dealer SERVICE MANAGER to let me know if anything ever came by him ...

Never told anything ...

There were curtsy up-dates that the DEALERS never tell there BUELL customers about ...

One was the throttle cable clip lock, which saw right away was a safety issue and "i" safety wired my throttle cables at the carburetor ...

IMHO, it was easier to tell the BUELLers on the Bad Web because it got to the BUELLers "QUICKER" ...

"BUT", then you get the "MENTALITY" that if it is in the "FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL" it has to be "RIGHT" ...

MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!
