Do it up! Its one of the most rewarding things I've done.... Plus I can right my Frogg Toggs off on my taxes...
As a matter of fact... just about anything I buy for my bike or any motorcycle gear I buy gets written off. |

A couple years ago I purchased a set of HD rain gear, it was on sale and the orange almost matched the color of my M2. It still keeps me dry but the damn thing does not breathe!!! Do they make rain gear that is breathable and keep you dry? |

Here is one of the "rules" to be a instructor....
(4) Is currently an experienced motorcycle operator, licensed for at least three years preceding the date of the application with a valid motorcycle endorsement and currently rides a motorcycle on a regular basis;

I just had to buy a new XB12R so I could ride on a regular basis.... wrote it off on my taxes.
The only down side to that is when I sell it, It will be reported as income.
We know how well Buell hold their value...
10500 tax deduction -vs- 4500 in income... If I can get that much out of it.... if I sell it. |

I have'nt instructed a class in 12 years. When I moved to WI, I kinda put it aside. Owning a buisness, I don't have time much anymore. It's all good though. Now I got a little son that I'm looking forward to teach how to ride! Cant wait to go shopping for that little Honda 50!  |

Jerry - I was considering Olympia stuff - what makes you say "nay"?
Because they suck, both the product and the so-called "service" after the sale.

I can't begin to express my disgust, after having just ridden all the way from California to Henderson, North Carolina (all the way from Washington State to NC, in Gentleman Jim's case), with the owner of Olympia Gear knowing we were coming and the issues Jim was having, standing on the side of the road in Henderson with the owner on the phone (yet again) and him telling us we'd just missed him and could we come back another time.
Pathetic, yet many of us in this country have tolerated crap goods and services for so long that many of us consider it a normal part of doing business.
Bullshit!
At the risk of sounding like a paid salesman for Aerostich, their products rock (the stuff they make, and the stuff they source), and their service is top flight.
When this country gets its head out of its ass and realizes that third-world-quality products, performance and ethics will NOT be tolerated (politicians, this goes for you, too), we'll be far better off.
Sorry (a little) for the rant.

Just because you have superhuman post memory...
Jerry - I recall the story now, and since one other person chimed in similar experience, that's enough for me to forget it.
I LOVE my leathers and I'll need to hold onto them for track days and such, but as I do more commuting and long-distance riding, something I don't have to stop and put rain gear sounds like a real plus. And I could easily show up to a summer-day BBQ, take the 'stich off and be in my shorts and t-shirt.
I'll have to start saving pennies.
Anyone out there wear a one-piece 'Stich on something with a seating position like a Firebolt, 1125R or 1125CR? I'm worried if the crouch will push the collar up into my neck like some other non-sportbike jackets tend to do. |

Excellent decision.
In my experience (one-piece Aerostich Roadcrafter), the thing will break in fairly quickly and fit you like a glove, with no irritations regarding points of contact with your anatomy. If their suits had comfort "issues" like you ask about, they wouldn't be so popular for so many years.
I'd go two-piece myself, if I could do it over again.

WOW!!! Jerry, you nailed it! and I don't consider that a rant either, just telling it like it is! I agree 100%
When I was growing up, there use to be bumper stickers that read "Buy American the job you save may be your own"! Isn't that the truth? |

How many ounces of Nikwax do you use in the washing machine? I've been using spray-on ScotchGard Water Repellant with pretty good results, but see the Aerostich factory uses Nikwax when you send it back for re-treatment. Must be better, or just easier. Thanks! |

Nikwax "Tech Wash" = one full 10floz bottle
Nikwax "Tx.Direct" (waterproofer) = 3 cap fulls
Avoid using Scotch Guard on goretex items.
Goretex needs to be treated in such a way that the pores in the material stay open. Scotch Gaurd, and other like it create a film like barrier that can clog the pores.
When that happens your suit can no long breath, and you get wet from the inside. Your perspiration cannot escape. |
