I just put the crossroads bars on my bike and holy @#$% what an improvement in handling. Way better than the superbike bars in my opinion.

Your bars rock, yet there are a lot of folks that would argue just as hard for why the Superbike bars are rocking as well - two differing schools of riding you might say - one style approaching the super bike clip-ons position, the other the Dirt-track style of riding - both styles are seen on pavement to some degree even in the highest forms of motorcycle racing. So as you can see - a kettle of fish indeed!

Ahh I see. I liked the superbike bars for what they were, but I just prefer the lower stance. Now I just need to make some rearsets By the way I know I asked this before but with the new X1 shifter kit http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=6&CategoryID=7&Produ ctID=1316 All I need is pegs and homemade plates correct? Also I will be making frame plates/mounts and I was wondering why other people didn't do this? Is it just preference or what? Thanks

Yes, that shifter works once you tap the primary cover. I'll probably go to that someday, have an old S1 linkage right now.

When you say "frame plates" you mean you're gonna bolt them to the frame where the old Y arms were bolted? The plates I fabricated are bolted to the primary cover on the left, and the sprocket cover mounts on the right.

Yeah I'm going to use the same holes on the frame where the y arms were. I'm going to do it like the old crossroads frame rearsets shown here, posted by Spiderman: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/20615.html?1034117686 Not that skeleton look though, mine will hopefully look stock. What do you think?

Doh! My bad, EZ is right of course. The XB shifter required tapping, the X1 doesn't. Sorry for the confusion.

I thought about the frame mount, but decided to go with the mount similar to go Banke style.

Yeah I've been rummaging around in the garage and found everything I needed for the linkage! I even have the 1/4 aluminum plate. I still can't believe I found this though It's the linkage to a throttle of an old boat. I just need pegs and some hardware. I'll post pictures of my progress as I go if anyone is interested.

The reason people dont make the frame mount style is because they are more complicated to make. Engine mount rearsets are simpler and have been around for a long time for Buells and Sportsters. Frame mount is Blast only. 1/4" aluminum plate will probably flex quite a bit when frame mounted (*probably*).
XB shifter probably shifts faster and better than the new X1 style and is more readily available if you 'break' it. The old tube frame/X1 style lends itself to be more readily placed anywhere and the footpegs go with it (usually).

I think 1/2" should be stiff enough! You can always brace it with some 'square stock' on the back side.
